    Brief Introduction
So you think you can accurately predict who the winner(s) of competitions will be, who will win the big prizes and when the favourites will lose? Now you have the chance to prove it! vBetting is the ultimate sports betting online simulation that can be played everyday.

    About vCash
Each Eligible Premium Member member is automatically credited with $500 worth of vCash (virtual cash) to spend in our vBetting shop.We will add new markets as often as we can where you can bet vCash on winners of thec ompetions and other specials. Bet on a winner and your stake will be returned to your vCash account, plus the winnings.

    About The Odds
Different odds are offered on each outcome. The most likely outcome is given a short price, whilst the least likely outcome (i.e. Granny ever getting a good hair day ) is priced with more generous odds where you can win more virtual money.

    For example:
Irina Slutskaya to win The Olys with inflated PCS scores ;) might be priced at 2/1
This means for every $10 you bet, you win $20 profit in vCash + your stake back IF She wins with inflated PCS scores. Total return: $30. Any other outcome would be settled as you losing $10.

Granny to have a good hair day might be priced at 20/1
This means for every $10 you bet, you win $200 in vCash + your stake back IF Granny has a good hair day. Total return: $220. Any other outcome would be settled as you losing $10.

    Track Your Bets/Winnings
You can keep a check on your progress by visiting the vBetting shop online at the following address:
    http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/vbookie.php?

Bet stats, top winners etc can be seen at http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/vbookie.php?do=stats

From this page you can see historical bets, wins, losses and current virtual bets yet to be settled. The vBookie also lists the current markets open where you can bet, closed and settled.

    Your vCash
Your current vCash account position is displayed in every post you make on the board - with a link to the vBetting shop. The amount shown will not include any bets you currently have in progress (that is, bets that have not yet been settled by us).

Amass a fortune and you'll impress everyone.... lose all your vCash and people might start questioning if you are really 'IN Tecknik' . So be careful.

If you lose all your money - Well, we're generous souls. When a new event goes up, your balance will be set back to $25

I will need some 'Official Bookies' who understand odds and all that and only they and admins will be able to post new 'V Bookie' events. Everyone else can place a bet. Please PM me if you wish to be one, in return your access to the supporters area will be free of charge while you do 'the job'. Im thinking maybe 4 people.

Anyone can request an event to be posted by posting a thread here.

Odds can be changed but .......

Thanks for setting this up, Sharpie :biggrinbo. I don't even want to think how much work it took :yikes:.

So will there be a sticky for Vbets each competition, or do you just visit the link above?

And just curious, but who exactly decides if granny has a good hair day or not :saint:?

Our first Bookie is Poths cos he knows about odds and stuff. I would also be looking for people 'in tecknik' for setting reasonable odds for competition events. Come on....

We'd probably be communicating by mailing list.

This is awesome, Sharps! I probably won't bet much, because gambling's never floated my boat (seriously - I'm always saying "if I were to win the lottery" yet I haven't bought a lottery ticket in at least 5 years, I didn't even buy one when the Powerball jackpot was up over $300 million), but I'll definitely enjoy the fun and give out rep to star gamblers!

ROFL about the first betting topic.

We should make this like real life. We could have betting agencies offer recommendations in exchange for percentages of betters' profits and let :sekret: with inside information place bets through other people. :p

Oh, I know. It's just that gambling in pretty much any form doesn't hold much interest for me. I mean, I have a Grandma who lives in Reno and yet I never go there (granted she's one mean, mean, mean old woman - seriously my parents told me that the last time they were down to visit they saw the workers at a couple of casinos actually run away from her). She even offered to let me stay at her place if I wanted to go gamble and yet I just don't, lol.

I have a fear of gambling. I'm hoping this game might help me work through that.

If anyone has a good idea...I'm more than willing to post! Pm me with any ideas (if you want it to be a surprise) or post your ideas in SHarpies thread! :)

I'm with Mr. BAtes, Voidy is good....but it has to be something with a fixed result and not something that can easily manipulated!

I'm curious. There seem to be a bunch of people with more than $1000 in vcash. How is that possible since we started with $500 and the first bet paid out at a maximum of 2-1?

You get what you made - $1000 - plus your original bet back if you win.

I have no real understanding how odds work and have never placed a real bet on anything in my life, but I've given it a shot and will probably lose my drawers...which will please my hubby to no end!

stupid question...if the odds are less than 1 (e.g., 2/5) does that mean you lose $ even if you win? or that reduced amount is added to the original wager so you actually do win $?

No. You get back your original wager in full, pluss wour winnings. So if it was 2:5, and you bet $5, you'd make an additional $2 for a total of $7.
