Yang / Baker & Gamelin / Gamelin are listed as alternates for the JGP Courchevel, so they will probably get assignments somewhere.

    Courcheval:
Anastasia CANNUSCIO / Colin MCMANUS USA 7
Lauri BONACORSI / Travis MAGER USA 7 S
Gabrielle FRIEDENBERG / Ben NYKIEL USA 7 S
Danielle GAMELIN / Alexander GAMELIN USA 7 S
Charlotte LICHTMAN / Dean COPELY USA 7 S
Anastasia OLSON / Jordan COWAN USA 7 S
    Joylyn YANG / Jean-Luc BAKER

I heard about the pair teams of Poapst/Knieram, and the team of Alexa Scimeca/Ivan Dimitrov. Anyone know what they are doing?

I didn't list those two Junior(?) pair teams because they haven't competed anywhere yet to my knowledge. Scimeca/Dimitrov (Alexa was listed to take her Junior pair test earlier this month in Simsbury, CT) is new to pairs and relocated to CT from the Chicago area, so this new team could have a Mids/Easterns option. I assume that Andrea Poapst (singles skater from Canada)/Chris Knierim are training in CO (Midwestern section) and may debut at Pikes Peak Classic next month?

Yes, it's quite possible, but for the purpose of this thread I am assuming both Junior dance teams (and any other Jr. pair or dance team that might still receive 1 JGP assignment) will most likely have to compete at Sectionals in November.

Since Kendra Moyle is newly listed on icepartnersearch as of 8/23, I will remove Moyle/Pottenger from my Mids Senior Pairs list.

ETA: I have since been informed that the Senior pairs seem to be distributing themselves as evenly as possible among the 3 sections, so that's good to hear! :)

Not surprised by Moyle/Pottenger splitting -- am only surprised that it took this long. I've never seen a team look so defeated and unhappy as they did at Mids. Both are talented. I hope they find partners more complimentary to their strengths.

UPDATE on Senior Pairs at Sectionals now that the USFS qualifying competition deadline of Sept. 1st has passed...

Castelli/Shnapir have been assigned to Skate America (taking place the same week as Sectionals), so they now should have a bye through Easterns to Nationals. One more TBA U.S. pair will be assigned to Skate America and they should also receive a bye through Sectionals to Nationals (if they don't already have one).

What I have heard through the grapevine (corrections and additional updates welcomed):

    Katz/Lynch - E (though they train in M)
    Zhang/Toth - E
    Smith/Bartholomay - E
    Donlan/Speroff - E
    Aaron/Cohen - M
    Moore/Gaumond - M
    Bereswill/Young - M
Moyle/Pottenger - M (still together or not? her name has been removed from icepartnersearch as of 8/29)
Chase/Marron - M or P (train in M but may not be together any more... still unofficial)
    Dobbs/Jacobsen - P
    Vise/Baldwin - P
    Davis/Leftheris - P
***Awaiting official USFS confirmation that Mary Beth Marley/Rockne Brubaker are a new Senior team. I've heard unofficially that they are likely to compete out of Pacific Coasts.

    ETA update on Junior Pairs...

Haven Denney/Daniel O'Shea have parted ways (they never competed as a team AFAIK). Haven Denney reportedly has reteamed with Daniel Raad -- they are training in Coral Gables, FL and should be at Easterns in Junior Pairs.

Daniel O'Shea has teamed up with Caroline Knoop and they train in Ellenton, FL. Knoop/O'Shea should be competing at Easterns (O'Shea still belongs to his Midwestern/Chicago area club but plans to compete in the Junior Men's event at South Atlantics, last I heard) -- will Knoop/O'Shea compete as a Junior or Novice pair? (I am assuming Junior.) If I receive confirmation, I will post.

Chase/Marron are definitely split. Marron is doing show skating. I don't know if Chase is looking for another partner. I guess you could kind of see this one coming... He's getting up there in age, and they didn't really have enough technical difficulty to make that good of a jump from Jrs to Srs.

It looks like the Sr teams are all dividing themselves evenly, so everyone's going to qualify to Nationals. A nice stress reliever there.

    ETA:

I'm told the new Senior dance team of Alissandra Aronow/Zachary Donohue will compete out of Mids.

Just noticed this Novice Dance typo in my list above -- correct last name is:
    Deissroth/Mueller - E or P

    Another new Novice Dance team:
Hope Schroeder/Stepan Dubrovskiy (The Skating Club of San Francisco) - P

Senior Pairs update: The Ice Challenge Senior B assignments for Tiffany Vise/Don Baldwin and Lindsay Davis/Themi Leftheris have been officially published on the USFS site and I've been informed that a Senior Pairs event will not be held at Coasts for the 2 teams remaining (Dobbs/Jacobsen and Marley/Brubaker).

Charlotte Lichtman/Dean Copely have qualified for the JGP Final and so they will receive a bye through their Sectional (Coasts or Mids?) in Junior Dance.

This actually seems kind of sad for Marley/Brubaker, who could probably really use the experience getting in front of judges. Was this their choice? Don't skaters get to choose whether to participate in sectionals if there are 4 or fewer entries in their event? Still... seems like an unlikely choice to me.

Actually, I did hear through the grapevine that Marley/Brubaker possibly could still do an exhibition at Coasts if they really want to, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. I'm selfishly hoping they skate at Sectionals so that I can see them on Icenetwork. ;)

Ashley Cain/Joshua Reagan qualified for the JGP Final today by winning the silver medal in Ostrava, CZE, and so they will receive a bye in Junior Pairs through Midwestern Sectionals to Nationals.

Since there reportedly is no Senior Pairs event at Pacific Coast Sectionals this year, Dobbs/Jacobsen's rumored split may not be confirmed until an official press release is issued and/or their names are removed from the Team C envelope for pairs on the USFS site.

When they registered for the qualifying season, they had to answer yes/no as to whether they wanted to compete if there were 4 or fewer competitors entered in their event. If at least 2 of them answered yes, then the event is held for those teams who answered yes, even though all of them would be advancing to nationals anyway. Hope that makes sense.

    Per the USFS rulebook:

3134 If any two or more competitors wish to compete in an event with four of fewer competitors, the event will be held. This will not affect the eligibility of the competitors to advance to the next higher competition.

3135 If there are four or fewer competitors in a senior, junior, or novice event at the close of entries, competitors may progress directly to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
