Jun Y attended the Edward G. Picken Pro-Am Dance Classic and shared detailed impressions in the general U.S. Club Competitions thread in Kiss and Cry (open to all until July 1, 2013): http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/sho...scussion-etc&p=3936400&viewfull=1#post3936400

    Excerpt:
    ETA:

Juvenile Pattern Dances as skated by Elizabeth Tkachenko/Alexei Kiliakov (ETA: son of the Wheaton ISA coaches Alexei Kiliakov and Elena Novak) at the Picken Pro-Am competition last weekend: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kb5KZhef55U
(Not sure if the order in the video is Hickory Hoedown, Fourteenstep, Ten Fox?)

ETA that I came across this old article from July 2008 about the WISA with quotes from Novak and Kiliakov: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080703&content_id=49098&vkey=ice_news

ETA: 2013 Skate Detroit (July 26-27) has Junior/Senior Dance events on their schedule - around 30 minutes allotted for both Short & Free Dances, which I assume will feature a few of the local teams.

Do you guys know when the entries for the 2013 Lake Placid ice dance championships will be out? The deadline for registering was something like Jun 24th, so I guess they should be online soon.

I don't, but hopefully the groups will show up sometime on this page: http://www.lakeplacidskating.com/events/icedance.php
    Dates are July 31-August 3, 2013.

Ice-dance.com will have their usual comprehensive event site - link will be cross-posted here and in the 2013-14 Kiss and Cry forum when it goes up.
If anyone is going and would like to volunteer to help them in Lake Placid: http://www.ice-dance.com/main/2013-lpidc-ice-dance-com-volunteer-staff-application?view=foxcontact

The Shibutanis announced their music selections on their website:
    http://maiaandalex.com/2013-2014-program-announcement/

Their SD will be to music by Michael Buble.
Their FD will be to Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin Something", Thriller and a version of Ben played by the 1966 Quartet, a group of young Japanese musicians.

The list of choreographers they are working with this season is impressive, Marina Z of course but also Corky Ballas on the SD, and Travis Payne and Stacy Walker on the FD.
They are really putting a lot of thought into this year's programs. Can't wait to see them.

^^^ The guy in the middle that spoke to the judging panel is Joel Dear, who competed at U.S. Nationals in ice dance with Meghan McCullough from 2003-2006. They finished 10th in Senior in 2006 and medaled twice at the lower levels (Junior pewter, Novice silver). Tosha Hanford, Chris Trefil and Angela Kim round out the group of six.

ETA that I posted an IN article about this act in the AGT discussion thread in OTBT: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/sho...eads-merged)&p=3954424&viewfull=1#post3954424

Whitney Miller, who debuted on the JGP in Austria last season with Kyle MacMillan and placed 6th in Junior Dance at 2013 U.S. Nationals, has teamed up Shane Firus in Canada and the team is training with Wing and Lowe in the Vancouver area. They are registered to compete at Minto Skate in Ottawa, August 1-4.

Registered to compete in the Quebec Summer Championships, Aug. 8-11 near Montreal, are Alissandra Aronow/Collin Brubaker (S8 at Nationals) and the new Junior team of Angelina Giordano/Jared Weiss. Both teams are based in Canton, MI.

From Lake Placid ice dance competition results (http://www.lakeplacidskating.com/events/icedance.php), novice pattern dances (Argentine Tango, Kilian, Viennese Waltz) final results are:

    1. Eliana Gropman/Ian Somerville
    2. Gigi Becker/Luca Becker
    3. Danielle Thomas/Alexander Martin
    4. Gwen Sletten/Elliot Verberg
    5. Sarah Feng/Anthony Ponomarenko

Very happy about the placements of the Wheaton kids (1, 2, 4) and am not at all surprised. :encore:

The novice dance competition at next year's Nationals will be very competitive and enjoyable. Don't miss it if you can help it.

Also in the Intermediate pattern dance final results:

    1. Caroline Green/Gordon Green
    2. Emma Gunter/Caleb Wein
    3. Eleanor Babaev/Scott Wenner

The Green team, also from Wheaton, has been demolishing the field.

I'm hoping-but realistically, they will probably prefer to give A&E their 2nd slot. Maybe one of the other TBA's will go to Lynn & Logan. :slinkaway:

A couple of observations, Aldridge/Eaton looked very prepared. They're used to junior though and having to be ready for earlier events. They also have the momentum of being Junior Dance US Champions. I am wondering what kind of improvements they'll make to an already complete program. Some of the other returning senior teams definitely were not at peak performance yet. It might be a concern if GP's started this month, but there is still plenty of time.

I doubt USFS would give Aldridge/Eaton a 2nd GP before Hubbel/Donahue (who only have 1 themselves). Lynn and Logan are probably still front runners having no GP this season and they weren't terrible in Lake Placid, just on a different training calendar than Aldridgre/Eaton. Cannuscio/McManus, last years SA host pick did okay too. SD technical and PCS were comparable to the Russians. They reportedly had a lift issue in the FD which resulted in a penalty and no score for that element. Personally I thought Lynn and Logan and Cannuscio/McManus still have a lot of room for improvement as they continue to finish their programs for Salt Lake.

Re A/E's Free -I just wonder about the wisdom of doing an Indian/Bollywood program before Davis and White retire. It looks like it needs a bit of work and polish still-and it begs comparison with D/W.

I absolutely loved their SD though.

I do hope A/E get a second GP.

USFSA should spread the wealth and give Lynn and Logan a GP before giving A/E or H/D two. Keeping fingers crossed to see them at SA!

Agree. In the last few years, USFS never gave SA to the team that already got one GP. H/D did not compete at LP, no score to compare with others. Last year, C/B won LP, they did not get the SA as their 2nd GP. They gave it to C/M, and I recalled the same with the year before.
