When did what anyone else was doing stop the force of nature that is Choosing Carmen?

I'll bet Zoueva's "Godfather" won't come close in quality to Dubreuil/Lauzon's for Paradis/Ouellette last season, even if she were choreographing it for V/M.

It's Paso Doble year. If there are toreadors involved, it'll be popular.

A/E to Marina? I have to say, that's not a move I expected! Wonder how Alex and Maia feel about it.

I feel bad for the Shibs. I feel they have waited patiently for D/W and V/M to retire. I wish they would change coaches and find someone who will make them a priority. They have amazing technical skills and I feel like they are wasting them by staying with Marina.

This is my first post on fsuniverse so I'm probably posting this in the wrong section. I was wondering if anyone might know what happened to a few skaters that seem to have vanished or don't have partners . Does anyone know what happened to the Phams, Laura Perry, Whitney Miller, Angelina Giordano,Olivia DiIorio, Kristina Rexford, Hannah Pfeifer, Siera Chadwick, Madeline Heritage, Grant Lorello, Christopher Davis, Nathaniel Fast, Jared Weiss, or Kyle MacMillan ?

Hannah Pfeifer is attending Miami University of Ohio, double majoring in East Asian Languages/ Cultures & Business. She skates on their Intercollegiate Skate Team & placed 4th in International dance at Intercollegiate Nationals last year.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Phams are still competing, at least not in the eastern section.

Kyle MacMillan split with Whitney Miller 2 seasons ago. Whitney tried out in Canada. I don't know if she is officially paired right now. Kyle now has a new partner, Alisa Raikovskaya from Russia. Not sure if they are registered to skate at Lake Placid next month. They are training at Wheaton.

Heritage and Fast placed 13th at 2014 US Nationals in senior dance. Don't know anything about them since then.

Fast is skating with Tori Patsis; Giordano appears to be injured; Davis is testing and looking for foreign partner; Miller rumored to be out of skating due to concussions; DiIorio in school and skating singles; Weiss on IPS; Rexford out of sport (in tennis now, I believe); Phams had brief come back as juniors at Laurel Ice Garden; Chadwick still on IPS; question as to whether new Gudis and MacMillan partnerships still valid

RUMOR I heard was that Gudis broke up partnership at Chesapeake Open, and may have quit competing.
Neither Weiss or Chadwick are still on IPS, also looks like Scott Dudley and Abby Isaacson, novice team, have broken up as she is on IPS.

I'm glad that most of the skaters are still in the sport . Hannah always had beautiful lines.I'm glad she's still competing. Hopefully the rumors about Diana and Ross aren't true. He and Eliana always had interesting programs and he and his new partner have a unique (more european ) look on the ice. I also hope that Angelina and Whitney can ocercome thier injuries. They were both very expressive.

Krylova & Camerlengo's group seems really crowded, at the moment. Zoueva, on the other hand, only has Sinitsina/Katsalapov and the Shubutanis as far as high level teams go, right now. It makes sense.

Aldridge/Eaton struck me as a team with pretty decent foundations, in need of 'the X-Factor,' something which would make their programs pop. Zoueva is the last person I would go to for that, but then she is a coach who could give them polish and smooth out the 'rough edges.' If I was them, I'd stick with her for something like 2 years to improve the basics and then swap to somebody more creative before the Olympics. :p

Or get their choreo elsewhere than from Marina.

Yeah. I can't remember any of her skaters having outside choreographers, though.

And let's face it, it seems that everybody - other than a small handful of fans on skating forums - considers her to be a genius choreographer. ;)

V&M got choreo twice from Tessa's ballet teachet, whose name I am spacing out on...Swann maybe?

The Zoueva teams have gotten lots of help from DWTS and SYTYCD pros. Also from specialists in particular SD/OD rhythms?

Ah yes, whilst Zoueva is always listed in the ISU biographies, it's possible that in many cases it's outside choreographers that did a lot of the work. Virtue/Moir's "Carmen" was reportedly done by somebody else, right? (And you could really tell, considering how much character it had - something Snoozeva's programs usually lack :p)

Yes, V/M's Carmen was conceptualized/choreographed by Jennifer Swan, a ballet instructor of Tessa's. Of course, Zoueva was the one who transferred the ideas onto the ice, so I believe it was a collaboration.

Indeed the ice dance group at Detroit is currently crammed with skaters from Novice to Senior levels across eastern US and Canada. From what I have seen at recent US Nationals, Detroit's ice dance programs tend to use loud big-band music or ballroom dance music that give me headache after the first three teams. Choreographically, besides the generic ballroom/loud-and-happy dance style, they've also had some rather obvious borrowing from well known older programs by other coaches/choreographers (Bohemian Rhapsody, Amelie soundtrack, just two recent examples) --- Technically there's nothing wrong with such practice, but it suggests the amount of fresh ideas available (or lack thereof). I wouldn't wish to send any more teams to Detroit, especially now that they've lost Massimo Scali to Canton (Zoueva's camp). They are bound to be even more short-handed this season.

I am going to sound like a broken record, but I seriously believe Shibutanis should try out choreography by Platov. Considering that Platov has zero clout in US though (as far as I can tell), I'm not holding my breath ...

I would like to see the Shibs with Platov..he has done good choreo for both the Reeds and of course for the Kerrs. He understands how to do choreo for sibling teams.

^^ Interesting. Where does Platov train his skaters?

Why not send the Shibs this suggestion, you two? :) I'd love to see Maia and Alex rejuvenate their skating and on-ice style, instead of remaining in the background at Canton. I like the Shibs better than Chock/ Bates.
