    Bow in awe indeed

It's a sad commentary on my life (or probable lack thereof) and intellectual development that I know far too much about a frothy, light-weight, brain-candy mystery series. Mr. jen_faith is re-reading Paradise Lost with side dips into the history of Sumer, I am re-reading books about southern vampires. I wonder sometimes how we stayed married for so many years :slinkaway

Facetiousness aside, I actually really like the Sookie Stackhouse series and the TV series is growing on me. There's nothing wrong with escapism once in a while.

Back to the series: if Ball is introducing the Queen
    and Sookie's cousin Hadley
this season, I am wondering if we are going to have a conflation of several books?

I personally don't like that Lorena noticed something different in Barry's blood, since Sookie's blood is different because of her ancestry. Unless they're going to go the whole 'not fully normal human' route, but in the books Sookie's was always related to her ancestry and as far as we know, she and Barry don't share that.

I don't think there was ever an explanation regarding Barry, however, book spoiler ahead
Sookie's little cousin does share her ability and indicated a genetic connection.
I think CH just sort of forgot Barry after she used him in the STL conflagration.

I concur with book 4 being the best (please let HBO keep it for a season 4!) Actually, I only really liked books 1-4 then 8&9... 5-7 didn't do as much for me.

And a nice note - Sunday's episode was the highest ever for viewership that TB has received with 4.5 million viewers at the 9pm timeslot (beating last week's 4.4 previous best). With DVR, etc, it had almost 12 million viewers!

Oh, just re-watching the episode right now... LOVE when Sookie screams at Eric, calling him an a-hole and he goes 'you're right, I think I can tell her emotions!' He played so perfectly sarcastic.

I believe this book scene does not make it into the show. Either Ball or Skarsgard was asked about it and said so.

It is a tragedy of epic proportions.

Who or what do we have to sacrifice to the HBO gods to make it happen? That's what I want to know

 Poor TVBill. He gets no love except from his ubers (and those numbers are dwindling). I think this is partially the fault of the TB writers. The way he is being written this season makes him come across as a complete drip. He spends most of his time either wallowing in existential angst or telling Eric that "SOOOKIE IS MIIINE!"

I do think that the show is going to keep the book idea that
Bill has a secret assignment from the Queen of LA, unknown to Eric. There have been hints of this such as the "Soooookie must be PROTECTED" statements by Bill and the upcoming introduction of the Queen in the series at an earlier point than the book.

In season 1 Bill also said to Eric about Sookie 'if anything happens to her you will be...' and Eric replies 'that sounds like an edict, but I would know about that...' which implies the books will be followed.

In the books it's hard to be a Bill/Sookie shipper but in the show they make it seem more 'real' like the feelings are really truly there.

Bill kind of implied Sookie's feelings for him aren't real too in this episode by stating that the exchange of blood can cause sexual attraction. Her sexual attraction for him really started after she had his blood the first time, didn't it? So he kind of did to her exactly what Eric did (though she did actually need his) but both men were saving her lives, but in different ways (Bill's blood from her beating, Eric shielding her so he took all the bodily damage).

I got 3/4 of the first 4 books... couldn't get #2 as they didn't have it. It will be in, in 2 weeks. I am looking forward to actually reading those books. Sounds like they are good (better?) than the show. LOL!

screech--in the books, Sookie is fascinated by Bill the first time she sees him, and there is a bit of attraction between Sookie and Eric before he tricks her into taking his blood--in fact in the book, he's even sneakier, as he protects her precisely so he CAN be shot to make her take the blood.

That Eric, such a kidder. :p

Part of that attraction is because she can't read their minds and it's peaceful. Bill was very polite and didn't treat her like a freak (in the books she's still a virgin because of this), and CH writes Eric as hot from the first introducion.

I'm almost done with the first book(I only read about 10 pages a night before I go to sleep, so it takes me a while to get through books)...and I'm to the part where Bubba(lol his character cracks me up) is guarding Sookie's house and Sookie has found out Sam is a shapeshifter.

ETA: I have a feeling I'll be reading through the books quicker when Eric is in them more :D

The new T.V. Guide has in interview with Skarsgard - I think it's titled "Scene Stealer". Anyway in the article he says he's single, but very ready and looking forward to having a family. (Swoon!)

Really! PML. Everything I've read about him says quite the opposite! That he's definitely not ready to settle down  I've decided that though he's uber porny, he's a bit too thin for my tastes. As Eric, his slender figure is pretty swoon-worthy, but in that nekkid!Alexander! clip, he was just a bit too scrawny. His face is still uber porny, as is his voice :grope:

Did you click on the link to the right with the scene of Alexander in the shower? Not very scrawny at all.

I think I've read that Alexander kept moving around for work so couldn't stay in a relationship because of that, but now that he's more 'settled' in LA becaues of TB he has the time now and hopes it happens. He comes from a family of like 7 kids so it makes sense he wants kids. I'll move to LA to help him out with that...

The most swoony thing I've read him saying in an interview was something like:
Interviewer: Have you heard that over 50% of women in Sweden cheat?
Alexander: I guess it's true. But it would snow in hell before I would do that.

Oh, and in other True Blood news...
    http://andyswist.com/TrueBlood-dolls.html Ummm, where's Eric's?

Just watched (another) re-air of the latest episode. Gotta say, loved flirty Eric in bed with Sookie and the way he says 'oh greeeeeeeedy' when she says she 'wants it all' (day and night). So insanely flirty and seductive.

Me thinks Eric will be played exactly like that scene if they get to do book 4 in a future season...

Though we got to see him nude, we didn't really see anything - yes, we got arm, side and leg, but no chest or buns!! We see Sam's somewhat less impresive body regularly, who not Eric's? I'm not going to complain about what we did finally get to see, but they are definitely still teasing us.

Sneak peek of episode 10 on youtube.

That's Hoyt's mama in the background going nuts on the Wii

And, this may be a confused spoiler (as in he got his episodes mixed up confusing 9 with 10) but, for what it's worth.... twitter spoiler from Rolling Stone. Those of you who are Skarsgard fanatics may show your gratitude to moi for this spoiler (if it's true) with flowers and chocolate and alcohol :summer: :p

Well we have already seen them in bed together, and with them returning to the disaster of the maenad, I doubt it'll be happening in this episode again so I think RS got their episodes mixed up.

On that note, just watching TMZ (a guilty pleasure) and they ran into Stephen Moyer and asked 'How do you feel about Alexander Skarsgard moving in on your woman?' (though they always call him Sarsgard) and Stephen's response: 'He's gigantor! How can you be jealous of gigantor?' and the guy presenting the clip is like 'I don't know if that's an inside joke, or if it's because Alex is so tall...' and Harvey (the lawyer boss) is like 'or...' and it takes the guy a minute to clue in to what Harvey is getting at and everyone has one of those sexual inuendo 'ooooh' laughs.

Love Stephen's accent - makes him even dreamier.

Skarsgaard plays the role of Eric really well. I think he "gets" Eric in all his smart scoundrel glory :D

Eric's my favorite character in the books, flaws and all :respec:

Wow. IMO tonight's was by far the worst episode of the show to date.

    Jason was pretty awesome though...

Anna Pacquin seemed to forget how to act, but interesting way to bring in the QoL. I was snickering at Jason and Hoyt's mama. She's an amazing actress.

Agreed. And it was really short in length too. Couldn't they have filled some more time with scenes of Eric???

Yeah, WTH was up with the 46 minutes-long episode? I agree 100% with skategal -- they could easily have filled the remaining 9 minutes with Eric scenes. I would even have been happy with watching him for 9 minutes doing paperwork in his office at Fangtasia. :)
