Injury was cited as the reason he withdrew from Junior Worlds; Martinez may have entered this competition earlier and could still end up withdrawing. We'll soon find out.

Regarding Martinez, based on a news report that was released on March 28, he's not yet sure if he will compete.

Here are excerpts from the news report:

For the past few weeks Philippine Olympian Michael Christian Martinez has taken the ice, putting in several hours of practice and therapy sessions as the

Triglav competition in Slovenia draws near.

“I started to practice again not still 100% because, it’s an old injury. It’ll be there you’re still using your muscles you’re still using your knees,” explained the 17-year-old skating phenom.

However, Martinez is still not yet one hundred percent sure if he will enter into the competition which takes place from April 2-6.

“We’re still thinking until Saturday. We’re still thinking if we competing in Slovenia,” he said.

Martinez says if he does decide he is well enough to compete and excel in the senior event, he would leave California by Monday.

I hope that he doesn't rush his recovery putting further strain on his injuries. I worry that his 'dragon mother' might be pushing him too much.

The ISU has often given points when there are less than 8 men.....they did so at Coupe de Printemps where there were only 7.

Is it normal for USFS not to send any skaters to this competition?

USFS hasn't assigned their skaters here in many years (2006). They've been using Challenge Cup in The Hague and Gardena Spring Trophy as their 2 spring developmental comps in recent years.

Thanks. I wonder if that's because 2 Sr. men were listed as WD in the final results?

I've noticed in past competitions when it's updated with only 7, it's because there were 8 originally in the draw. If one withdrew really late they still get the points, but this doesn't seem to be the case here.

2008 was the last year USFS sent skaters to Triglav.

Yes, 2008 Triglav Trophy was part of USFS' "Developmental International Program" for the 3 USA ladies that competed that year. I should have mentioned it even though the skaters had to pay their own expenses (not sure why Triglav hasn't been utilized in this way since?).
