Hamilton: One-handed Biellmann, the only skater I've seen perform that spin...
Me: Um, hello? That used to be Mao Asada's trademark move!
John: You should be a commentator.
Me: No, you have to have a certain amount of personal charm to do that.
John: Well, that hasn't stopped them...

Having seen Carolina and Yu-Na live, I don't think it will help her case. :2faced: Why do you say that, though? Does she not look like she skates with scoliosis live?

    Yep.

I usually think that the world still waits for a truly great rivalry in ladies' figure skating. There have been great skaters--like Kim, like Asada--who pulled off extraordinary feats, but that's not quite the same thing. Too often, it's a matter of one great skater being a much better competitor than the other, or else of one great catching the other at a bad time in the latter's career.

    Was Kostner's Bolero too-sparsely choreographed?

For my liking? No. For competitive purposes? Yes.
Yes, both as a vehicle and for my tastes.
Not at all. A program isn't insufficiently choreographed when the Bejart influence is so screamingly obvious.
purple Kostner skated to Bolero?

If Alissa Czisny had been injury free and performed clean content equal to, say, her GPF victory, would she have medalled in Sochi?

Her lack of a 3-3 alone would keep her off the podium.

Lynn's OBM-winning free skate in Sapporo
    or
Kostner's OBM-winning free skate in Sochi?

Would Kimmie Meissner have been better appreciated if she were from Finland?
yes, she had Kween sized shoes to fill
no, she would have been usurped by Korpisto anyway

The Korpisto borg would have left a bloody corpse, with an Amish coif.

Tuktamysheva. She needs it more than Sotnikova does and has landed it before in practice. I don't see either of the other two landing one.

    Scheherazade:

    I. The Sea and Sinbad's Ship
    II. The Kalendar Prince
III. The Young Prince and the Young Princess
IV. Festival at Baghdad - The Sea - The Ship Breaks against a Cliff Surmounted by a Bronze Horseman

and my sincerest deepest condolences for f_d. (But I gotta say it did prompt me to visit the war-zone which I've been avoiding since ladies event ended and I'm absolutely not glad I did:drama: Imagine FSU without Madame muller!)

    1. Same question.
    2. Jennifer Lopez circa 2001-03 - yay or nay

III, though I love the conclusion of IV. (As for the other thing, I can only hope to grow a more bulletproof skin. Perhaps some deep meditation will help me to rise like a lark or bat above it all.)
