Well here's an interesting titbit. My guess is that the date and possibly location of this video is wrong. I have the official ISU 100th anniversary centenary video and there's a wealth of old clips on there including this clip of the lady shown from 30 seconds on this video. It is none other than Madge Syers-Cave, the first ever world ladies champion and Olympic gold medallist in 1908. :)

    Great find!

I was just cleaning out my house and found a large box of cassette recordings from the mid-90's!

Should have auctioned them off on ebay before youtube made everything available!

Even if they end up on youtube they are still valuable because the youtube version is nice but there is nothing like an old good quality tape:)

Perhaps this has been posted before but it such a great story.
A video about the life story of Ellen Burka (Dutch former figure skater and a Canadian figure skating coach. She was the coach for Toller Cranston, Karen Magnussen, and her daughter Petra Burka). A beautiful story about how skating saved her life in world war II and how she changed figure skating while she was coaching.

    M&D's 1988 Short Program: http://youtu.be/FDdZj-YAYc8
Although they formed their partnership in 1986, this performance is the oldest one that I've seen.

They would keep this routine for two years in a row, skating the same program for the 1988-1989 season as well.

Their CDs are also on the account as well as two short training sessions from her together with Palluel ! I knew he tried to find a new partner after Dominique Yvon's injury but I never seen him again on the ice.

    http://www.ina.fr/video/AFE04002058/patinage-artistique.fr.html

The first time I saw this video they had no clue what it was. Now they write 1949 just not knowing the competition. I'm pretty sure it's a coverage from 1949 worlds in Paris. Because :

-this is the french national audiovisual institute website, so they have only event held in France
-Vrzanova outfit (the one from 1950 worlds is clearly different)
-Button not landing his 3 loop (so it's not 1952 worlds in Paris)
-combo winner of Button, Vraznova & the hungarian pair couple only happened there + Hungarians costume.
-Du Bief is still clearly young & her costume doesn't match what I saw from her from 1950-1952.

If someone has better clues or know what competition it was, please tell us. If you can identify the other pairs couples, please do too. I could manage only the Hungarians.

There's more on the website, mainly Calmat & Vaudecrane fluff & interview + some figures. I'll try to post them too.
