Big thanks to you for posting all those videos from the past, and great appreciation to those who taped/captured, collected and uploaded these clips in the first place. :rockstar:

One last dip into the Central European figure skating vaults, a quick yet interesting glimpse of Czechoslovakia's National Figure Skating Championship, 1958. ...

    http://www.bbcmotiongallery.com/gallery/clip/48050473_3000.do

First off, please mind the  Yank voice-over to this BBC Motion clip - recorded proof that commentators back then :scream: could be just as obnoxious as they are now. Just Ladies and Pairs here, couldn't locate a video for the Men's comp (Karol Divín) or the Icedancers.

Ladies champion Jindra Kramperová goes on to place 5th at Euros and 17th at 1958 Worlds. Note: At that time Kramperová was (and still is) a renowned concert pianist. Here is a really nice magazine story about her from last year.

Věra Suchánková + Zdeněk Doležal, the pairs champions, win with a :inavoid: creative and lively program that will bring them a second European title and a silver medal at 1958 Worlds. Note the death spiral... S+D are often credited with being the first pair to present this element in competition before the Protopopovs further refined it and presented their 3 variations.

That is because they skated with different partners before. Didn't someone post an Anissina/Averbuch video previously? I thought I'd seen it around.

:) I already posted video of Anissina/Averbukh from 1990 but what i meant was that this is the earliest video of A/P skating together.

^Simple Google searsh but sometimes I need help from Wikipedia and fsvids archives.
The following video"Russians in America" is documentary about Linichuk and Karponosov and @ 0558 you can see 17 years old Natalia.
http://ezar.ru/videos/45280/РУССКИЕ. Наталья Линичук и Геннадий Карпоносов.

Another one from 1975(the announcer is stating that Linichuk is 17 but considering she was born 1956 she is probably 18 or 19 years old in this video)

Jerod also competed in pairs with Shelly Propson but I couldn’t find videos of their performances.

My personal favorite was their voidy (pre-Igor Shpilband) FD of 1991

They had to withdraw from the free due to her injury at the 1986 US Nationals so that may be why there is no video.

    Gotcha :)
I think I've seen a video of Ondrej Nepala several years ago (not on youtube though, might have been a video link or even on tape) however, that competition was only a couple of months before Trophee de France. It was their first season together, so you pretty much got the earliest of them together :)

Thanks for the info :) I just wanted to compare because so far we've seen skaters competing as singles and in pairs in same cometition but not in ice dance and pairs.

Also, look at the results of the 1992 competiton. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_United_States_Figure_Skating_Championships#Ladies_2

Who would have predicted that the 9th place finisher would become one of the greatest of all time and everyone who finished above her would never make any impact at all?
