    The difference is X-Factor has a post-show production company. The Voice doesn't. The contestants get a record contract, but individual success depends on their agent and the getting the right material. The key is an agent who will get you and your material in the hands of the right people.

    In the UK at least, The Voice has a contract with Universal. X-Factor has a contract with Sony. So those record companies get to sign the artists first if they want.

    I said this Season 1 and still believe it. The Voice is the perfect vehicle for experienced performers who just want to be able to pay the bills and afford health insurance. Gig rates go up, and the manager doesn't have to spend the first 15 minutes of a booking call answering the "who" question.
