IMO, this suits him more than his current FS. There's more of a personal connection to the music here.

Do you know this video? This TV program was aired recently. A comedian started learning skating 10 days before he met Nobu. This video shows that Nobu became his new special coach. hahaha  Nobu showed a 3T and a inna baure. The other "coach" is Kinji Miyamoto. The comedian is aiming at doing a single jump and scheculed to his one and only show in 60 days since he met Nobu. Nobu said the comedian is gifted so he thought the comedian would nail a single jump in 60 days. Nobu gave him encouraging words a lot. I believe Nobu will be a good coach after retiring the competitions. :)

The commedian started skating because he was inspired by Kevin Reynolds. See this.

That's hilarious. I don't know what's funnier, the comedian's attempt at spread eagle  or Kenji trying to align his legs in a Ina Bauer position, using boards as a prop. That looked painful!

BTW, I just noticed that Nobunari's ISU page got updated and now his coaches are listed as: Lee Barkell, Noriko Oda, Paige Aistrop, David Islam.

Does anybody know what are Paige's and David's roles in the coaching team? :)

Nobu seems to be relishing competing, in some ways as the 'underdog' - not having been on the world team recently, probably helping his mindset

Anyways, he got on the podium! :respec:
The important thing is to pile up the reputations. This time he proved he can calculate. :D Moreover he became the third man to get on the podium among those six Japanese men. :encore: Love his both programs.

I'm glad he's getting these mistakes out of the way now so he doesn't peak too early. Save it for when it really matters, Nobu!! Go ODA!!

    Congrats on your bronze medal!!

So a gold (Nebelhorn), a silver (NHK) and a bronze (Skate Canada) already this season...what do people think of his chances of making it to the Grand Prix Final? I'm thinking he'll be in sixth place after Rostelecom??

REALLY hoping he gets to the GPF Final!

Looks like Patrick and Hanyu are going for sure, barring a disaster in the LP at Trophee Eric Bompard. If Han Yan gets on the podium or even gets 4th, he's in too. Daisuke beats Nobu on the tiebreak. So that's four already. If Machida gets 4th or higher in Russia, he's in (so he's probably in). Looks like it all depends on how Kovtun does in Russia--I'm so crossing my fingers for Nobu!

Okay, for the GPF, so far we're looking at Chan, Hanyu, Dai and Han Yan. With just Rostelecom Cup left, Machida would have to place 5th or lower not to qualify, which is highly unlikely to happen. So that leaves just one spot.

From what I can see, the only skater who could overtake Nobu is Kovtun. If Kovtun gets 1st or 2nd, he's in and Oda's out. If he gets 4th or lower, he's out and Oda's in. If he gets 3rd, they're tied. In that case, what breaks the tie? Overall scores from the two events?

Yay! Nobu got a sponsor!! He appeared in an ad of Windows 8.1. Click on the video on the top of the site.
    http://microsoft.jp.msn.com/windows8/video/default.aspx?videoId=40cd4512-44f5-42cd-b529-a0d1ad586b6b

The brief summary of the story:It's kinda funny one. "Athleka family" members are all athletes. Their "father" is a former Sumo wrestler(named Musashimaru), "mother" is a former swimmer(Olympic medalist). Sorry but I don't know the girl who is supposed to be Nobu's "sister". And Nobu acts as their "son" in the film. "Father" is preparing for the presentation. He wants to make Sumo more popular in the world via his presentation using Windows 8.1. Their father making a joke with a famous gesture now in Japan. See this Tokyo's final presentation viedeo as the Olympic candidate.(around 0:15)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j60fhcJzoRw

Aww. The Japanese skaters are so friendly with one another!

So sorry Nobu just missed the GPF. I only hope it doesn't put him down in the minds of the JSF going into Nationals.

On the other hand, Dai, Hanyu and Machida will have a lot to prove at the GPF. If one (or more) of them don't skate well there, it might hurt their chances at Nats. Who knows? This Japanese Nationals will be the most intense of any men's field I have ever seen! Holding all best thoughts for Nobu to make the Olympic team! :swoon::kickass::drama:

Interview with Nobu after finishing his long program at GP final.

    my rough translation
    .......

    Nobu:
I was nervous at the beginning of the program but came to my senses after falling on the same junp as yesterday. At next competition I want to be on before I fall. I was not as nervous as I was yesterday but still a bit nervous. However, thanks to my coache's(she is also his mom) words "Enjoy yourself", I could focus on enjoying my skating even though I made mistakes. And it helped me a lot.

---How did you spend your time last night?
I was so frustrated with my mistake and it took time to fall aslleep. My family came to root for me and I went for dinner with them. I tried to forget yesterday's mistake and fire myself up again.

    ---Both of your kids came?
My second sun can't come in the arena yet so he saw me in the hotel(on TV?) My first son came and rooted for me at the rink.

---Do you have pain on your foot?
My boot was broken one day before I got the substitute spot and I had to change my boots. I felt fear rather than worried.:D I've never participated in a big competitions with a new boot. The new one was hard so I could not use my knee satisfactorily. I had troubles with my foot a bit.

---Do you think that your chance to make an Olympic team is getting bigger?
I can't tell before the Nationals. All of the skaters will try their best to get the spot. I'll try my best not to lose to them.

---What do you have to work on?
As for today's skating, I was not able to use my edges well enough and I came to feel my feet heavy. So I want to work on it more from now.

---You got a good result in spite of your sudden participation and also boot trouble.
Still I don't feel my boot fits and wish I have enough time to get used to it by Nationals. However, I could recover my confidence at this competition.

---What part of your boot was broken?
The bendable part of my left boot. It went flabby in the practice. I changed my boot and also edge as soon as possible because I was the first substitute skater. I hardly fall asleep before I came here because I feared so much.

---What do you do first back your home?
I love Hichu so much. :D Since I can't taste them during the competitions, I want to taste them a lot. :D

    ---Your thoughts on coming Nationals?
Even though I don't have long time, I want to do as much as I can. Aiming at making a Sochi team, I want to try my best with strong heart.

Congratulations for the bronze medal at Grand Prix final :40beers: Go for it to make a Sochi team!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
