    Great pictures, thanks Sylvia!

Josh's lines are so clean and extended, very lovely. Everything is very smooth. I wonder if the top of the Bach costume would look better fitted. The blousiness looked a bit odd in places.

That particular one of Jason that you linked made me laugh. He's just so bendy! You can really feel his expressiveness through the pictures, and there are a couple of them that really show how deep into his edges he gets!

I think a tighter shirt would work better for the SP costume due to the high neck. The looser fit of the FS top works because it sort of just hangs off his shoulders, but the SP top is not constructed the same way, and makes him look a bit boxy and his neck disappear a little bit, IMO. Josh is a thin guy but his torso is quite short due to the length of his legs and his not being that tall, so I think tight shirts or ones that are loose but fall straight out from the shoulders are a better look for him than something in-between, which makes him look a bit square in build and stockier than he is. Just something I was noticing, and it doesn't look bad, but it's weird, because he looks so much taller and thinner in his FS costume compared to SP this season, but obviously his body hasn't changed in the day or two between SP and FS!

    Also happy birthday to Jason!

This new Jason Brown article includes his goals for 2013 Nationals & beyond, and reveals a planned relocation to Colorado Springs with his coach in March 2013: http://www.icetalentinc.com/2012/12...n-opens-up-about-his-goals-and-changes-ahead/

    Thanks for cross-posting Sylvia!

I must say this has completely caught me by surprise. It's a huge step and I really hope it works out well.

A top six at Nationals - I think this is a pretty realistic goal looking at the current SB scores for the Senior men and taking into account the changing status of his 3A. I think he's like seventh on the men's SB list (when you don't include Chen because he's a Junior), and that was his JGPF score with only one clean 3A in the SP and no 3A/missed jump in the LP, so he could definitely bring that wayyyy up with two clean 3As in the LP.

Josh is 3rd on the SB list, and he too can improve, so a medal may be a realistic goal for him, although of course other skaters can improve and boost their own scores. It's sure going to be an interesting fight!

I assume the college Jason mentions is going to be in Colorado, since it would be impractical to be living and training in CS and going to college elsewhere. Wonder what he's studying? I think if anyone could manage a courseload and training at the top level, it'd be him. I just hope he doesn't burn himself out or anything.

Since the article says he's splitting his training between the World Arena and Colorado College (which I did not know had an arena), I assume he's going to take classes at CC. It is a very fine liberal arts college in the north part of downtown Colorado Springs (the World Arena is at the southern edge of the city). The particularly cool thing for Jason is that they follow a block schedule, where students take only one course at a time (one course per block) and 4 blocks per semester; about 3 1/2 weeks per block. So, he could presumably skip the block (or schedule carefully the course) for Nationals or for Worlds.

Oh, thanks for the information! *clueless about US colleges*

Wikipedia tells me that Colorado College is home to the Honnen Ice Arena. There's a lot of NHL players on their list of graduating athletes. They do mention figure skating in their little paragraph about the rink so I guess there's specialised freestyle ice or that he will be able to obtain it.

This block thing sounds really cool.

Colorado College's block schedule is weird for US colleges, too. Cornell College (Iowa, not New York) is the only other one that comes straightaway to mind.

Hockey is huge in the Springs. CC plays at least some (maybe all) of their games at the World Arena, and USA Hockey is headquartered in the Springs too.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jason in some of the shows that the Broadmoor holds.

How often do we hear coaches moving with the skater?
Wondering if it's going to be a permanent move for Kori Ade?
Must be a difficult decision to make, dropping existing students and all...

I more got the impression that Jason was following Kori, not the other way around...

Yeah he is but I still wish he'd grow out his hair again. He looked so handsome and grown up with the longer hair at JW last season. Apparently all the local girls were following him around and kind of ignored Jason and Han Yan lol...

I think he looks a lot more adult with the shorter hair, maybe somewhere in between his JW length and now would be good...

Either way, they've both grown up some more again in the last year...;)

Yeah Jason looks way older now than before, he's gotten a lot stronger through the shoulders. Josh should stop tucking in the shirts though, as someone who has a similar long legged/short torso build, I find that tucked in anything just contributes to the proportion disparity and gives one a young/coltish appearance.

Jason has got quite muscular all over now. I think maybe he grew a little more, he and Josh didn't seem to be too far apart in height at the JGPF. Either way, he has definitely joined the ranks of the "got-more-handsome-over-the-off-season" club. ;)

Josh in some fitted costumes would be nice, particularly the Bach ones. But I guess it's all about what he feels comfortable skating in.

Meanwhile, speaking of questionable costumes, Jason, honey, blue velvet pants? Just no.

I wish he'd dump the entire SP, and mostly the costume, entirely, though it's probably a bit late in the season for that. And actually in the backstage picture of Josh and Jason together, Josh still looks a good 2 inches taller, so I am utterly confused with heights because Jason looked a lot taller than before in those group pictures, but if Josh is really only 5'8" that means Jason is likely around 5'6", quite small for a man, but if that was the case, he wouldn't look taller than all those girls in heels in the pictures so idk. Next to Kovtun who is reportedly only a strong 5'9", Josh does look 5'8", but I sort of doubt Kovtun is only that tall as looking at him he gives the appearance of being about 6 feet tall or close to it. Then in the icenetwork article it said something about how Josh had grown since last season so no idea. Jason is definitely more muscular though which maybe that is why he looks taller, he's just bigger. I would have guessed Jason was 5'7"-5'8" and Josh 5'9"-5'10", but like gymnasts figure skaters are usually small in stature so maybe they are as short as listed and the skates and similar smallness of their peers just makes it seem otherwise...

Figured I'd prop up this thread again since US Nats are underway and Josh and Jason skate on the 25th!

    A few tidbits of info:

The SP start order is up here, Joshua skates second and Jason skates fourth out of twenty skaters so we will have to wait a long, long time to see how their SPs hold up.

Josh was among a bunch of skaters who missed first practice (apparently this is not unusual) but according to eyewitnesses, Jason was there and doing :swoon: triple Axels!

Rough draws for them, but it shouldn't be a big issue if they skate well. This should be a really exciting event! And wow, what a stacked first group!

    Update from today's practices:

Josh did a clean runthrough of his SP and two quads, and looked very good apparently. :cheer:

Jason did a clean runthrough of his LP, featuring a 3A-3T and a second 3A. :cheer:

    Can't wait! :watch:

Congratulations to Joshua for a near perfect SP. He really showed he could skate with the big boys. Loved his press conference afterwards also. So cute and in awe of it all.

I was also so impressed with Jason. Despite the fall early on the triple axel he skated an exquisite, captivating program. Not many young competitiors could have done that. I agreed with Michael Weiss in that he just brings you in and you smile the whole time. His skating skills and rest of jumps were suberb and he just has that "it" factor. His day will come soon. The triple axels in practice were beautiful and they will be in competition too.

All Jason needs it to start hitting the 3axel consistently then move onto the quad. He has everything else already. he draws you in when he skates.
