Thanks, rosewood. It's good to hear Patrick will have more show opportunities.

I have a question. The ICE has a large cast. I guess the skaters do only one program per show, even though they have prepared two programs. Do they announce beforehand which program they will skate for each show? Or is there any rule on which program will be shown?

^One program per one show from a skater aside from group numbers. They don't announce the numbers before the shows. It depends on the skaters; some skaters show different number in different show so that people who see multiple shows can see various numbers, of course there are skaters who skate one particular number all through the tour, i.e. Mao usually show her new program all through the tour.

Aside from individual programs, The Ice usually have opening number, men's group number, ladies group number, talk show in which a few skaters appear in each show(different skaters in different show), dance battle(or spin battle, or whatever battle), and ending number(dancing with audience). So you may enjoy some amusing performances from Patrick, seabm7. ;)

One of the reasons why The Ice is popular in Japan is Jeffery choreographs some of the group numbers every year and his choreos are challenging and fantastic. :cheer: I'm expecting wonderful choreos from them too. Go Meryl & Charlie! :cheer2:

The Ice has its own official channel on youtube. you can see last year's all numbers here.

^Thanks, reut. They made a debut of their new competitive programs in THE ICE last year too. I'm excited about seeing their new season's long programs! I'm also looking forward to seeing ladies group number choreographed by D/W, and men's group number and opening number by Jeff. A group number done by D/W is something new in THE ICE. And the last year's men's group number done by Jeff was exquisite.

International skaters have arrived one after another. They look fine. So do D/W who choreograph ladies' group number and grand finale dance this year. Meryl's voice is so kawaii as well♪

    (my rough translation)
Finale dance begins with this hand gesture.

    (my rough translation)
And the opening pose of the finale dance is like this...

    (my rough translation)
Then the next pose is like this. Yep. You guys, let's dance that legendary program together with the skaters!

We're in hurry editing the dance lesson video. Hope you'll enjoy Meryl&Charlie's comments in Japanese too!!!

Yay! They uploaded Meryl&Charlie's demonstration video for the grand finale. Let's practice the dance to enjoy ourselves together with the skaters when THE ICE is aired(...and we find a video on youtube. :slinkaway) It seems this dance is a sort of easy one. As for their Japanese, I think Charlie's Japanese sounds good and Meryl's is excellent, natural and fluent. :respec:

They use the same music for the grand finale every year, so you can do the rehearsal by yourself. See last year's video from 8:10.

^ Can't wait to see men's group number choreographed by Jeffrey!

I found on Mura's official fan FB that his new programs are as follows:
SP: Violin Concerto by Mendelssohn, choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto
FS: POTO, choreographed by Tom Dickson

It is said on the FB that he's wanted to use POTO since before. He was motivated by the new rules that allow to use vocals, and decided to use POTO for his new LP. As for the short program, he wanted to skate to classic music, and he decided to use Violin Concerto.
And it is also said that he may make a debut of his new program in THE ICE! I'd love to see.:rollin:
    https://www.facebook.com/takahito.mura.fanpsge/posts/260678857457635

One more new program is gonna to be made a debut. It's by Kozuka. He appeared on a preview clip for THE ICE a couple of weeks ago. A youtube user posted the link on twitter, so please click on the video which has "ザ・アイス長野へ 小塚くんからのメッセージ" on it's title. https://twitter.com/search?q=ザ・アイス 小塚&src=typd He said that his new program is to Argentine tango but I don't know whether it's SP or LP. And he said that he'll skate to the new program in THE ICE and he hopes people like it. But again, I'm not sure he'll skate to Argentine tango or another one. He didn't mention which one he will.

MY rough summary of his interview on the video:
Skating to Argentine tango is a new challenge which he's wanted to do since before, and he hopes to create a different mood in this program from those he did in the past. In the second half of the interview, he said that the real pleasure of ice shows is to enjoy together with the crowd, and he wants to make as many people as possible smile, and he concluded the interview by saying that he believes in the power of this sport.

So, we're going to see new competitive programs by Adelina, Kovtun, Kozuka, and maybe Mura. Satoko may also skate to her new competitive program which she's already made a debut in Dreams on Ice a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait! :rollin:

^It's a shame those videos are blocked. If time allows, I'd like to post the summary of the videos later.

I think the ticket prices are average comparing to other ice shows in Japan. (From about $78-$216, Nagoya show) http://www.ctv.co.jp/event/the_ice/nagano/index.html

IIRC this is the 8th year or so for THE ICE to be held. Its home rink is at Moricoro Park, in Nagoya. The venue at Moricoro Park has about 2,000 seats. I think this venue is the beloved one even now, since the smaller the venue is, the closer you can see the skaters. In the first 4 years or so THE ICE was held only at this venue. But after that(maybe after Vancouver Olympics) THE ICE has two more stops other than Nagoya every year. So it's THE ICE tour. Usually THE ICE has Nagoya, Osaka and one more stop in the area such as Tohoku, North Kanto, and Nagano, where people were affected by earth quakes and tsunami in 2011. THE ICE 2014 has Nagano stop. (It's less known but people in Nagano was affected by a very big earth quake a couple of month after the great earth quake and tsunami in East Japan.) The venue in Nagano is White Rink where Nagano Olympics was held. See these photos posted by Chukyo TV. 1 2 White Ring has approximately 6,000 seats. Osaka show is held at Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium. The venue has approximately 9,000 seats. Nagoya(2,000 seats x 3 shows=6,000)+Nagano(6,000 seats X 3 shows=18,000)+Osaka(9,000 seatsx3 shows=27,000)=51,000 in total. THE ICE 2014 has sold most of the 51,000 seats already. So it's definitely one of the biggest ice shows in Japan, and maybe even in the world.

    ETA:
Here's the glimpse of the rehearsal! Hope this one is not blocked in your country.
