Nagasu had cancelled THE ICE in the last minute two years in a row. I'm not sure yet. Would Caroll allow visits to Japan if it's not a "competition"?

Some of the junior and novice skaters are invited.

Aichi - Miyabi Oba, Miu Sato, Saki Kawakami, Sanako Noma
Uno was listed first but replaced by Sato. He's rumored to be injured.

Osaka - Taichiro Yamakuma, Marin Honda, Kazuki Tomono
I've never seen them. Marin Honda is a 9 years old novice girl, rumored to be quite a talent.

Just curious. What's the point of mentioning it every time in every topic?

Two years ago, Nagasu and Lysacek were invited to Japan Open. However, both of them cancelled due to very unclear reasons (lack of preparation or something). As the replacement for Nagasu, Bebe Liang was invited. I suppose IMG wanted someone with more popularity and the higher caliber, but they wouldn't dare to reject if it was Frank Caroll's recommendation.

^^Yeah, it looks like she's made it this year. I know she cancelled her appearance at The Ice and Japan Open last year b/c of the stress fracture she had. I don't know about the year prior to that, but I'd say a cast on your foot is a good reason to cancel.

Anyhoo, I'm glad she'll be there this year. I'm not really a fan of ice shows, but Mao's show has really great production value. Lots of costume changes, group numbers and duets, etc., plus they have a great line-up of skaters. I'll be looking for the videos online.

I just had to add that Mirai is a pretty cool kid! Lol! I read her Twitter page and I have to say, I like her taste in movies, tv and music. She tweeted about Harry Potter (I'm a total HP fanatic!), So You Think You Can Dance? (absolutely love that show), Nikita (best show on The CW!), and Beyonce's new album (she's my favorite singer and her album is phenomenal). Mirai and I would get along pretty well I think...:D

A friend of mine says that among ice shows in Japan, she loves "The Ice" and Shizuka's "Friends on Ice " best. Those are not mega-sized gorgeous shows, but she says the atmosphere is always so warm, cozy and friendly that the audience and skaters could feel close to each other. Those are the two shows she wants to return to and say, "Hi! " again every year, she says.

This is an article in “Youmiuri Shimbun” in Japan.
    Translated from Japanese.
In a charity ice show for earthquake disaster, Mao and Kozuka did a performance with pair.

In July 23rd, the charity ice show for East Japan Big Earthquake Disaster, "The Ice in Aichi" was held at the ice rink of "the memorial park of EXPO 2005 Aichi Japan" in Nagakute town in Aichi prefecture, and the domestic and foreign famous skaters showed the splendid performance, such as Mao Asada released the exhibition program for next season.

In the first stage of the ice-show, Asada showed the graceful skating, with skating to the hit music "Jupiter" by lyrics of Ayaka Hirahara, saying "Please watch all of my skating". In the finale, being paired with Takahiko Kozuka, she made an audience excite with the lilting step.
