Max Aaron & Scott Hamilton...on-ice interview pic
Gangnam style (l-r: Douglas Razzano, Anastasia Cannuscio, Christina Gao, Colin McManus and Max Aaron).
Cute pic of Max autographing someone's tote bag:

New Q&A in which which Aaron talks about his choreographers (a "way upbeat" SP by Pasquale Camerlengo, FS by Lori Nichol) and more: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130521&content_id=48162418&vkey=ice_news
Fingers crossed...Carmen has been over-done imo, but a fresh, new take could work. It's a long opera, so a lot of the music never gets used, so I'm hoping for magic!
Twitter: Skate for Hope references this same article as part of their PR for the upcoming show...
What new could Max possibly bring to Carmen? He is not an artistic or contemporary skater?
West side story...and now Carmen. You can't make this stuff up. I want an exclusive interview on the Manley woman podcast.
This is my reaction, too. CARMEN??? Really?? (Will it be exactly like Evan's program?)
This part makes me quite curious. What version would leave one in doubt as to the source music?
There was a modern jazz take on Carmen in the late 1950s:
The late Argentinian musician Waldo De Los Rios did an arrangement of selections from Carmen for piano and orchestra (but it's less than 4 minutes):
Like I said in the music thread, there was a hip hop take on Carmen that MTV did years ago starring Beyonce called: "Carmen: A Hip Hopera".
Could be that. Clips can be found on Youtube.
Hmmm...I'll have to look for that one. This is like a scavenger hunt!
P.S. But of course the vocals would have to be eliminated....
P.P.S. OK, in this version I WOULD have trouble recognizing the source music!
Carmen and Lori Nichol. *sigh*
I don't really like hip-hop all that much, and pretty much hate rap. So, if it's the "hip hopera," I'm a bit leery. But at least there couldn't be any vocals.
If it's a more traditional Carmen...well, that's been done to death imo.
I'm going to just take a wait-and-see approach, not pre-judge, and see what Max and Lori create. They might surprise us...in a good way!
I actually would prefer it to be a hip-hop style Carmen than the traditional one for Max. I just think it would suit him better. I'm sure he'll pour all his energy into it.
But Lori Nichol...and Carmen...? I want to give the Carmen part a chance, but the choreographer part is making it very hard to believe this'll be good.
IIRC, didn't Lori once choreograph something called "Fate of Carmen", using a lesser-known bit of the opera?
Twitter: Max shares a charming picture of him & his sister Maddie...
Note that Max is wearing a hockey t-shirt!
It better happen!
Great pic! What cuties!
Too freakin' cute! He was a little speed demon from the start!!
I love this profile! My favorite line:
Dang, I don't know how Max made some of those goals! Some of those angles just looked impossible, but he still found the net...plus his speed and maneuvering...AWESOME!
^^ Wowsa!! Max Aaron, what determination!
Did you guys see that huge hit Max took from behind (from a much larger opponent) after scoring a goal?! Incident occurs later in the vid when Max is wearing a red uniform.
I'll really be interested to see how Max can bring more of that hockey 'tude and meld it with the artist that's inside him. He don't need to be the same kinda lyrical artist we're used to seeing on the ice. He can blaze new territory!
Yeah, that big kid took a cheap shot after Max scored that goal! No wonder Max became such a little bulldog on the ice!!
And I love his stats...
Teeny-weeny Max was a little speed demon! Some of those kids were twice his size!
(Although, hands up if you got confused by the switch in jerseys halfway through...)
A shame the USFSA seemed in a great big hurry to do the competition though. It was all over well before I woke up, and I didn't exactly sleep in today.
That's Max in a nutshell!
Wow Max was a star in hockey too! Mini beast. Doesn't let those big boys scare him at all. So fast too.
