That triple toe on the quad-triple was really beautiful. His quad entry looked a bit iffy to me, but the combo seemed effortless. I didn't realize it was a new element for him.

It's not a new element, but he hasn't done one in competition for a while - not since Nationals SP last year, I think. He's struggled with it a bit and normally does 4S-2T. But I agree - it was a GREAT combo!!!

I'm still not convinced that he UR the 3A, though. If anything it looked over. I'll have to make the ~enormous sacrifice~ of going back and watching Max do the sexy samba, again. :p

I'm so proud of Max Aaron for putting the USA back on the map with quads! And now 4/3 combos. to boot! :hat1: It doesn't get any better than that. Loved his Sp, though surprised to read he got an UR on the 3A, thought he only SO, but I'll take it, now for the FS!!!! :rollin:

I noticed on twitter people are predicting Max's retirement.

What does everyone here think of that? (Not what do they want...that's a different question. Obviously no one in an uber thread wants him to retire.)

I don't see it. Unless he takes up bobsled or something, Max isn't leaving until he gets his try at 2018. The guy wants to be an Olympian.

It's been a rough season for Max, but I think he'll regroup and continue forward. I agree that he really wants to be an Olympian, so I expect him to stay for the next 4 years.

I think that those people are [insert string of expletives].

Probably the same people who constantly whinge and moan about his "lack of artistry".

I'm so very proud of Max for having gone for everything in the FS, without great risk there is no reward, that's what makes champions.

    And most importantly Max's 8th + Jeremy's 5th = the magical 13!!!!:kickass:

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOO USA!!!!:rollin:

I believe he would change coaches long before he would quit.

While I had hoped that Max would have skated more smoothly in the fs, I am still proud of him. He is a fighter, and I'm beyond thrilled that the USA will have 3 spots for next season.Thank you, Jeremy & Max! :encore:

It is even more impressive after the huge disappointment of missing out on the Olympics. Good for him. I think he has a bright future in the sport. He reminds me so much of Lysacek, even if obviously with more athletic ability but weaker skating skills and polish than Evan.

Sometimes Max wants it so badly that he actually tries too hard...enters jumps too fast...forces the rotations rather than just letting them flow. But when things aren't going well the hardest thing to do is relax, breathe, and let your body do what it's trained to do...one tends to begin to skate with the brain rather than the body.

I think he needs to go back to the style of choreography he had with TRON and WSS; if he took that style and added his new sense of artistry and presentation/performance he'd have the makings of his own unique style. :)

I think it was great for Max to try a new style, but unwise to try it in an Olympic year. I hope he can use his advancement in artistry to add to his own style, and not try to be someone else. Tron and WSS really suited him. I thought his Carmen was decent, but really did not like the short program.

Someone also needs to tell him that with a long torso and short legs, he needs to wear high waisted pants, and not the drop waists like the white/black costume. Although the all black body suits do look great on him.

I really want Max to come out next year and skate like MAX. Not being pressured into trying to skate like Jeremy or Jason. Just being himself on the ice. That would be wonderful.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF PLUSHENCHRIST MAX DO NOT GO TO LORI NICHOL AGAIN.

skittl, that's funny, because I LOVED the SP and hated Carmen.
