Setting up for tonight. Can't wait!
Me neither! Looking forward to it.
Aiming to get home from work on time, so I can snark in real-time!
Bumping up. 3 minutes to go.
YAY!!! Luuurrve Iveta, and damn, can she use those legs. None of those 20 year olds making pouty faces trying to be sexy can compare.
this guy in the weird costume just doesn't get it does he. Don't argue with Debbie Allen.
Yeah, he doesn't seem to have it. To be honest, I didn't think his dancing was that good either.
Did the bboy just do a tornado?
You know, besides the outfit, Marlon was just not that good. The only exciting and marginally interesting part was his outfit, and it was interesting in the wrong way.
Seems the panel is looking for folks who used the time in between local auditions and Vegas to add new things or improve. Staying the same is a good way to get cut.
I still like Natalia Mallory's fire better. And are they messing with us where it looks like she's taken off in an ambulance?
I'm sort of surprised Princess Whackadoo lasted that long. of Irish step dancer. Hope she comes back next year. Kind of surprised that Hero and Patty Ann were both done-in by hip hop.
Well, it was sort of hip hop. I call it CrappyTabs and it really favors the jazz dancers, not the street folks.
Tanith on twitter:
I finally figured out who Jordan's audition reminded me of in feeling, if not in actual dance--Jessie from Pasha's season. She put oil on and I swear that alone got her in the final.
This choreography is sort of hideous. I feel bad for all the dancers, and if they can make it look halfway decent, they really deserve to be there.
jordan is a bit irksome, can't put my finger on it exactly but it is there
Please, I don't want to hate him. no more Wooooooo!s
rebecca looks like a saloon girl on deadwood
I will now declare my 8 year long hatred for the group round. It's not "So You Think You Can Choreograph". I don't see how this round shows anything. It shouldn't exist.
I will now not complain about it while it is happening.
Interrupting this SYTYCD moment to say I hate that vacasway old navy commercial.
the word vacasway is punch inducing
ETA I guess that'd be Me 3
It's the dance equivalent of a stress interview. I think it's the closest to the "it's the 6th week of comp and you just got assigned a partner you don't like." test that they can do.
But it sux.
Is it just me or do these commercial breaks seem longer as the show goes on??
After the penguins devour Mr. Popper's, I'll have them torture whoever came up with "vacasway."
I'm guessing that the choreography round is done to make sure they can do their own solos? I don't think Natalie is any bigger than Donyelle, or at least, not by much.
if she is too big for him to lift, could she lift him instead?
But again, these groups have a massive advantage if they have someone in their group who can choreograph. They will never have to choreograph for the rest of the show. I don't see why you would base so much on choreographing your own routine. I understand that they are trying to stress them out, but it still doesn't make sense to me.
her outfit is not her friend. it makes her look like there is a goiter in her stomach.
Good point. I have wondered why they haven't done something like give them a clip of some number from a movie or play or previous SYTYCD and say "make this into a group number", which is at least a jumping off point.
Nigel loves these group round stress stuff. I think he thinks it makes for great TV drama since he does the same thing on AI.
Alexis is boring.
I see it more as "Can you work with a bunch of random people and showcase everyone?" Whether it's a fully developed choreographed routine, or just properly executed steps, the groups that achieve cohesion usually go through.
Alexis would not have gotten this far if she was not Jeanine's sister.
Jeanine is a significantly better dancer than her sister.
I think Alexis might be a better contemporary dancer if you look just at technique. But Jeanine is better at performance, different styles (from what was seen here), and has that charismatic look-at-me quality. Alexis, at least the way they're editing it, also seems to be whinier.
I love this music and this kitschy 60s choreo. It's so Austin Powers, in a good way.
Adam is letting his hair go gray? He looks nice
I don't understand why DC Chapman was upset.
Er, not loving this routine, but the judges seem to love it.
i am still annoyed that robin Antin gets to speak
