OK, I'll be frank, peeps. I can't vote since I'm in the US, so if anyone would be willing to send in a few votes for me, I would appreciate it (we can talk about :bribe: later). I know, it's just a TV show and I've never gotten invested in DWTS, but then again SCD is sooo much better and it's been great entertainment this year. Lots of great dancing and fun. Did I say great dancing? But don't take my word for it.

There are 5 pairs left. It's semi-finals this weekend and 2 pairs are going to be eliminated at once. I have 2 favorite pairs, I hope it's not going to be them! Here there are:

    Matt Baker & Aliona Vilani:

Matt grew up on a sheep farm (maybe that's his secret ;) ). He's a TV presenter (Countryfile and The One Show on BBC) and occasionally an Olympic commentator. He used to be on Blue Peter, a children's TV program, and now many who grew up watching it are confused by the feelings he has aroused in them with his dancing. :grope: He has this quiet understated sensuality of Colin Firth. Until he steps on the dance floor, that is.

Cha cha cha "I don't class myself as Mr. Lovah-Lovah." Comment on YouTube: "Matt Baker = Hott Damn" Seriously, look at those hips, lookat'em! :swoon:

Quickstep "If there's anything that's going to trip me up, it's going to be quickstep."

    Charleston Wow, just wow.

Viennese Waltz "I don't know how such a beautiful dance can make you feel so sick."

Samba Starts great and ends even better.

Jive I'm not really sure why they have themes on SCD like they do on AI, so Movie Week I wasn't so sure about. Matt completely went for it, though, and I laughed all through it. The beginning is just amazing (just how brave do you have to be to do that??), the rest is fun fun fun. He's completely engrossed himself in it, up to his face expressions. Shagadelic, baby, yeah! "I don't think anyone has ever barked at the end of their routine, either."

    Pamela Stephenson & James Jordan

Pamela is a former comedian (was on Not the Nine O'Clock News with Rowan Atkinson) and now a psychologist. I just love Pamela. The way she moves with such grace and poise; her sense of humor and the fact that she can keep men with strong personalities in check so easily. :p James has met his match.

Waltz "This whole experience is licence to flirt outrageously." "We both know where the line is; as soon as my husband walks in the door, it stops."

Salsa "You don't want me to get any stronger because I'll just hurt you."

Rumba (lesser quality with intro and judges comments; the part when they're dancing skips for me so watch the first one for the dance and this one for the comments and intro, funny as usual) "Rumba is a beautiful dance. I would love to stay in the competition so I could keep learning these gorgeous dances. Most of all, though, I just want to shut James up."

Bruno: "Pamela, what you did is what very few people manage to do. You actually sang with your body."

Tango "This week I can't stop thinking about tango into psychological terms." Ouch James' ...

Foxtrot "You know, it's saving me the waxing I needed for my upper lip."

American Smooth (lesser quality with judges comments) "I actually think it's good to have some guidance, because now we know what we need for this week. We need: hanky panky and danger. And we've got an awful lot of both."

Charleston "I love the fact that we're doing things that I have never ever imagined that I could do." *Pamela's head gets stuck between James' legs*

Viennese Waltz "It's movie week this week, so we're recreating that romantic scene from "Ghost." ... "Why are you naked?"

Paso Doble They both looked stunning and it was red-hot. Btw, if I were the bull and that was my bull fighter I might have given up sooner. ;)

What I love about James in particular, he can do anything in rehearsals: horse play, argue, show weakness, but when he steps on the dance floor he's an ultimate professional. And he's an amazing dancer. He brings the best in his partners. And with Pamela they have really seem to hit it off. Great chemistry. Like James said, "It's almost like a marriage to be honest with you."

Btw, after Pamela talked James into doing something in their rumba Len didn't like, she had to address him as "All-Seeing, All-Knowing Rumba God".

He really is a rumba guy. Here's another rumba he did with another partner on SCD: Zoe & James

And one he did with his wife: Ola & James That first lift they did is absolutely breathtaking. Gah!

I hope at leat one of my favorite pairs wins this year. If I had to choose (and I do, don't I?) I'd probably go with Pamela & James, since his wife won last year and won't let him touch the trophy so he wants it really bad. I hope neither Pamela/James or Matt/Aliona are going to get voted off tomorrow night... :/

Anyway, I wanted to make a thread for SDC for a long time. Even if you don't vote, enjoy the dancing. And if you feel like posting any dances from this or previous years, go ahead. Let's show all the DWTS fans how it's supposed be done. :p

Pamela Stephenson is 61 years old. I'm in awe!
I was a big fan back in her Saturday Night Live days.

As Gavin and Scott have both been in the bottom two (and are the worst dancers), it should be them leaving this weekend. We'll see if that's the way it goes.

Am hoping at least that Kara & Artem stay in or else Mr. allezfred (an uber) will be unbearable to live with. :scream:

Thanks very much for posting all of these.
I can tell I'll be searching YT for others.

I like both of your favorites!

That was the one I was going to post. I loved it! The beginning itself: OMG (and not in the bad way as Craig used it for Ann Widdecombe  Btw, I love Craig, he's such a character)

Kara is great. The problem I have with her, though, that with the exception of the dance above, she doesn't engage me. She can also be quite manic in her dancing.

Here's some more from another pair, Scott & Natalie: Viennese Waltz Jive (I love the jive. This one was great. And if someone looks their salsa up, you will be able to see how much Scott has progressed since then)

    Good YouTube channels for SCD:

fschnell (very good quality and posted fast, there already dances from today over there; usually though the clips are just the dance without any intro or judges comments)

MrAtariST (a lot of SCD clips, usually updated pretty quickly, although I'm not a fan of the compressed screen...)

syfygirl82 (decent quality clips with intros and judges comments, although not updated recently)

You can't win. If my favorites go, I'll be unbearable here. :EVILLE:

    Speaking of today's dances:

    Pamela & James Quickstep

If that's not a first-class entertainment, I don't know what is. You can tell they really really want it. And James is a genius.

I could tell they did really well, but the clip doesn't include the judges comments or marks. But I didn't have to look far, they've already made the papers! Me happy happy! :cheer2: Now I just hope they didn't get voted off. The results are tomorrow.

Here's a better version of their Paso Doble from yesterday. Btw, the singers at SCD are just incredible. So many times I thought it was a recording, but no.

Matt & Aliona (Tango) did great tonight, too.

Pamela & James, Kara & Artem and Matt & Aliona are all through to the final next weekend. Great that the three best couples made it. :)

Whoohoo!!! I'm soooo happy. :cheer2: I got James' tweets, so I knew he and Pamela got in, but I was afraid to find out about Matt & Aliona.

So happy to see them all in the final!! Those are definitely 3 best pairs this year, and they're all amazing. The final is going to be sooo good, can't wait.

It's the final right now on BBC1!! Is anyone else watching? I think I'm a little bit in love with Matt Baker after his first dance, a reprise of his wonderful samba. So undermarked each week by Len and Craig :drama:

I'm watching! They've all done their first dance and the leader board is:

    1. Pamela & James
    2. Kara & Artem
    3. Matt & Aliona

I'd have it Kara, Matt and Pamela. I found James's waltz choreo incredibly cheesy. Sorry, Windspirit. ;)

I think the world of Matt's talent/work ethic, after discovering him, thanks to this thread.
I'm glad I'm not alone. floskate!

I'll look forward to seeing the videos, when they arrive.

It really was awful :fragile: but clean. However Kara just bombed hers and while they will mark it higher than Matt's it might just help him.

Does James have a Patrick Swayze fetish? "Unchained Melody" for waltz and "Time of our lives" for the showdance.

That was far too simple for a showdance from Pamela & James.

Pamela out first. I thought I was watching something else when the judges had them in first overall. :shuffle:

Think Kara is the better dancer, but wouldn't be surprised (or bothered) if Matt won.

Agreed. I think Matt is one of the best male dancers they've ever had. Way better style and technique than some of the sports star males who have won but for some reason the judges have tried to play him down. Kara is the better dancer though.

Love Kara, Artem's choreography overall was brilliant (except the showdance - what was he thinking :wall:) - delighted they won!
Wouldn't have minded Matt winning - judges were incredibly harsh on him over the series.
Pamela was a good dancer, but her personality began to grate on me after a while.

You call it cheesy, I call it simply beautiful. Maybe if you weren't so scared of your Kartem uber you could see the truth! :p (btw, want cheesy, try rumba to Santana's overused track :p)

I haven't seen the show yet (I have to download it first), but I found the results online. I am disappointed. Pamela & James gave me so much joy I would have loved to see them win. I know how much James wanted it. But most of all, I can't believe it's over and I won't get to see another dance next week. Now, that's truly sad. :wuzrobbed They danced beautifully, had fabulous chemistry and lots of fun. Someone made this clip highlighting their journey. OMG they really tried the handless lift on his shoulders (that James and his wife did in one of the professional dances). I thought Pamela was joking. That woman had no fear. I'll miss her.

If I couldn't have P&J win, I wish Matt had done it. Kara does absolutely nothing for me. She dances well technically, but I find her insipid. I see "clinical competence", as someone put it. She doesn't engage me. The only dance where I felt any connection was her Argentine Tango. That was superb. Btw, I still remember her frantic samba where she moved at times as if she was being exorcised. Not pretty (the lift was awesome though).

Having said all that, I can't begrudge Kara & Artem for their win. They are both very talented and they worked hard. Just because I don't "feel" them doesn't mean they don't project that well for others. Different people respond to different things. I could never be an uber who sees the world in black and white and thinks their opinion is the universal truth. :scream:

So congratulations to Kara & Artem. Well done, enjoy your win (and each other)

As Kara does nothing for me, and I coudn't have Pamela win, as a compromise, I'll just watch Artem dancing the rumba with James again. :rollin:

I must admit I was glad that Kara and Artem won in the end. I think she wasn't as technically brilliant as they were making her out to be (I thought her arms in the rumba were actually quite lacking in fluidity despite Craig going on about how amazing they were on ITT this week) and she had a weird lack of use of her arms in turns out of hold that made her look awkward. However, that being said, I did enjoy most of the dances she and Artem did and felt they at least had a genuine connection that made me enjoy watching their dances.

I liked Matt and Aliona as well but some of her choreographic choices were bizarre at best. The salsa from a few weeks ago wasn't as bad as the judges made it out to be (I wasn't bothered by the gyrating section!) but it was a bit too basic and Aliona should have known she'd get picked up on it. I also thought the paso could have had so much of a wow factor and it just kind of fell flat. I do wonder what Matt could have done with a pro who would have had a bit more of a clue (not that I'm bitter that my fave pro girl Flavia got saddled with someone crap again or anything...)

I thought all the showdances were pretty bad. I thought after Matt's that he had totally handed it to Kara on a plate considering how disjointed it was, but then hers wasn't much better. I'm glad that they put them earlier in the show than they're normally shown because it would have been a bit anticlimatic to have them at the end!

As much as I like James (controversial but he's pretty and I'm shallow) I wasn't too keen on Pamela and I thought she'd been overmarked quite a few times. I was out when she danced her quickstep which got 40 so I figured it must have been really good. When I got home and watched it I was scratching my head at where the 40 came from. Even the tap she'd put into it wasn't great - a couple of shuffles, a few tap springs and she was missing sounds as well (thought Craig would have picked up on that). Not surprised that they went first because their showdance was totally underwhelming. Not really sure what else James could have put in because he couldn't exactly fling her about but the whole Dirty Dancing thing has been done to death because of Brendan's obsession with Dirty Dancing.

Overall though I think I enjoyed the series more than I have for the last couple of years. I much preferred it back in series 4 and 5 and I don't think it'll get back to that level again but at least I liked the winners this year. Kara's one lucky girl because Artem's absolutely gorgeous and I must admit I did mist up slightly at the end when he kissed her. I am unashamedly soppy!
