This is an interesting comment and I see what you mean.

I am really, really tired of POTO. Do you think there is any chance Coughlin is kidding because he knows there will be a negative buzz about it? ;)

No. They skated to Turandot last season, so their team isn't getting how to package them correctly. Therefore, POTO is quite possible. Their only hope to fix their biggest drawbacks [PCS] in a short amount of time is the packaging, and get a bump in PCS points there.

I am concerned that Sappenfield appears to be tone deaf about musical choices that complement skating styles. POTO does not seem like a good fit for them, much as a sultry routine would be a poor fit for Marley & Brubaker. Sigh.

I'd really like to see what D&C could do with some better music choices and styling. (As well as a lift positions doctor, though I'm really hoping that is an area that Sappenfield really works them on this summer -- Keauna certainly had no issues with lift position.)

    ?

Actually she did. She pointed her heel instead of her toe, which considering the rest of her position was excellent, always made me wonder why Daililah didn't tell her to fix it.

Very true. But if Caydee could get even 80% of Keauna's lift position attractiveness, it would be a huge, huge improvement. Probably the biggest deficiency in her skating.

(And if someone she liked could talk with her about makeup that would look good on TV, that would be another good thing.)

I suspect the idea is change the image of them to be a smooth and lyrical pair because that is generally who scores well with the judges. So their music choices are designed to appeal to that standard.

Obviously there's an issue of how well they fit that profile, but it seems to me they don't think embracing a less refined image is the ticket to skating success with the judges. And they may be right on that.

I guess they have a long term goal of attaining that standard, but Sochi is in less than 2 years. I don't know if it's enough time to fix their chronic problems.

In a shorter amount of time, they might catch a few judges' eyes with something less refined but that shows them at their best

Here's more music/choreo information from the World Team Trophy preview article that was published today on IceNetwork (link posted in the WTT thread in Kiss and Cry):
I like the concept of a swing music SP for D/C... as long as it's not "Sing, Sing, Sing"! ;)

I like Camerlengo's choreography and hate Sappenfield's so that's definitely a good thing.

As we all know, some very successful skaters have used POTO, so it's going to keep being used no matter how much diehard skating fans tire of it. Music like this can help draw a crowd in. More important than music is their choreography, so Camerlengo should be a help there.

Looks like Anna has teamed up with Matej. Found this Picture of them on Facebook. She also commented on it saying that he was her partner.

Interesting. I've never heard of Matej, but I hope they have a successful partnership. I wonder where they're training.

I have seen Matej "pair skating" at a tryout. Anna certainly has her work cut out for her.

AFAIK Matej Silecky is still pretty new to pairs and hasn't competed as a pair skater yet.

I understand that they will train in Northern California. I hope they do well. He had a number of false starts.

Congratulations to D&C for a really good first year together. I'm excited to see how they progress next year, but thrilled that we have a US pair that is able to deliver on jumps and throws with solid consistency.

Also hearing of a possible Andrews/ Anderson reunion. Nothing is solid, but I know it's a possibility in that camp.

Really? I liked them together. Why did they split in the first place?

I don't know for sure, but probably had something to do with the disastrous skate they had at sectionals in junior. After winning Novice the previous year, they failed to reach nationals.

It's always good to end the season with a clean FS! :) I'm looking forward to seeing improvements from Denney/Coughlin next season, as well as what kind of programs Camerlengo can choreograph for them.

This is exciting news - a big move for her! I hope it goes really well for her in SoCal.

Matej and Anna are both part of USFS' DREAM Program.
