Great opportunity for Adam!
I'd rather see Dube and Davison...
But, I really wish we had Patrick Chan...
Goddammit! Why do D&D never come to Toronto? I may have to trek to Hamilton now...
whee! my friend and I get to see D&D
I hope the show uses lights this year, that was disappointing last year and made me think they were having financial problems (which maybe they are).
Or Winnipeg. (although I do like Adam too.) Maybe I'll join you on your trek to Hamilton. Wee bit more of a trek for me than you tho.
Cool! We'll get to see Adam in Edmonton!
I hope they have lighting this year too... just about didn't buy a ticket because I was so disappointed last year. Thought I would give it one more try...
What do you folks mean by no lighting. Was the show just done with house lights up? Basic white spots?
So, Rippon is the only non-Canadian to be in the show. I wish they had more.
It's because they all do the USA tour at the same time (joke)
I also wish the tour was more international. It's bad USA and Canada Tour are at the same time.
Rippon in Vancouver
Exactly. It was like an exhibition skate after a competition - just the basic white spotlights in 'semi-dark' house light conditions. Really disappointing. Made me realize how much difference lighting makes to a skating show.
so jealous.. why can't Dube and Davison come to California.. I know it's a tall order.. I wish I had money to go there ..lol.. I hope there are pictures or voids of event..
I remember reading about the no lights thing last year and I was extremely confused because the lights were exactly as they always are when I saw it. But then I realized that they apparently only lit the show in Hamilton becuase they were taping it for TV. Lucky for me! I wonder if they'll do the same this year.
btw is anyone from Michigan going to see the Windsor show?
Jeff Buttle, Jamie Sale & David Pelletier will be at the Sears Ottawa Rideau Centre signing autographs on Friday, April 23 at 5:00 pm
Nice picture of the cast celebrating Jamie's birthday in Halifax.
Is anyone going tonight? If so, I look forward to your report/thoughts!! I envy you!
Joannie is so small!
If she can wear one of Jessica's exhibition number(what Joannie wore at 2010Olympics Gala) lol, it means that's she's not really tall. From her personnal's website, she's 5'2.
I'm only 5'0 .. eek now that is short!
Hopefully they have lighting because it was cheap looking last year. I actually thought that would be the last one I'll go to but likely this weekend will be the last one. I just want to see V&M even though I hate their exhibition LOL.
Opening night review in the Halifax Herald:
I tried to buy a ticket for the show in Victoria but found nothing. Is it really sold out or can it be some trouble on the system?
There are some home videos of show in Halifax on youtube:
Tessa and Scott, Everybody dance now
Tessa and Scott, Mahler
Jeff, Good mother
LOVED the Intermission number.
ETA: Midori, I went to the website and checked out ticket availability for Victoria. It appears that tickets are still available. I saw the following small print:
I saw the show last night in Ottawa and enjoyed it very much.
I got ice seat one month after ticket was on sale,at that time they did not have $25 seats,
I read article about Victoria venue ,they sold about 650 ticket before Olympic was over(that was 2 months after ticket was on sale)
It seems they lowed price because it is not selling.
show two years ago was about half full,so it is very unlikely it is sold out.
maybe it is better to call box office.
Review pretty please?
echoing a review, pretty please as well?!
yes reviews please! Jeff Buttle tweeted that he had a rough day in Montreal. http://twitter.com/J_Butt wondering what happened.....
So looking forward to next weekend. I haven't seen CSOI since Alexei Yagudin was in it and did Winter...funny that is all I remember of that show. LMAO! Oh B&K did Mack the Knife...
Looking forward to seeing D&D and can't wait to see V&M live.
I was at Montreal show, and I don`t remember Jeff having a rough night. Shawn had an off-night jump wise, but I don`t remember any major mistakes from Jeff... and he spoke French which was really cool! "Cheval, vache..." (he spoke a lot more than just that though...) LOL!!
We do get to see Bruce! Ahem. I mean Bryce. And Jessica too.
Mocha-Ice can you please give us a review of the night?? They seem to be scarce in his thread Thank you!!!
Went to the Ottawa show - great show.
(and I saw Hartford on Thurs). The group numbers are the same, fun to see different folks.
First time seeing Virtue & Moir in person - loved their free dance; and actually suprised that I loved their exhibition number, so much better in person. Scott is really cute and shows his personality out there
Kurt - 2 numbers - just amazing, especially the footwork. He just gives it his all.
Cynthia - first time seeing her live also, nice, very energetic
Buttle - have not see him live since 06 Worlds - he has really come into his own on stage, eye contact with audience and confidence have really grown, just love his edges.
Joannie - really lovely, again last saw her live at 06 Worlds, definitely more confidence
Shawn - so fun, quite the showman, great moves
Sale & Pelletier - good, have seen better from them previously
Marie-France & Patrice - just love them, such a romantic connection, really get lost watching them
Love M-F & P with S&P in the 4 (like american with b&A, D&W) in purple outfits. Always have trouble deciding who to watch.
Dube & Davison - they seem to be in a better place, happy to be skating (I felt the Olys they did not seem like a few years ago).
Also as someone who has been to many SOI (this was my first CSOI) over the years, the group numbers were nice, but nothing compared to years ago. But at least this year I think the timing is the reason, they did not have tons of time to rehearse.
Great show, so worth the drive from CT. Plus Ottawa is a beautiful city.
ETA- Is Joannie still skating to "My Immortal" ?
Re: ticket for the Victoria show
Thank you yukky and Mahn.
I tried on other browsers and other PC's but it was all the same, so I asked on twitter and SSOI confirmed that the show is sold out
Wow it's great for the tour but I did not expect it after hearing so many "not-selling-well" stories.
