I noticed that Alena Leonova has twice been the 2nd best European lady in Worlds (once behind Lepistö, once behind Kostner) and yet she has won no EC medals.

Can you think of other cases like this, or even better: someone being the top European in Worlds and never winning a EC medal?

Laetitia Hubert finished fourth at two World championships (1992, 1998) without ever having won a medal at Europeans. In the first case, she was the highest-finishing European lady at Worlds.

Tomas Verner has been on the European podium 3 times already (A full set: Gold, Silver and Bronze) yet he still lacks any world medal, barely missing the podium at 4th in 2007 and 2009. The year he was european champion he had the meltdown of his life and finished 15th though.

And if Pechalat&Bourzat dont waste their likely last chance next year at home worlds, they could go down as the first euro dance champions without a single world medal.

Denkova & Staviski won Worlds twice but never finished higher than second at Europeans. Chait & Sakhnovski earned a bronze at Worlds but never medaled at Europeans.

Anna Rechnio finished 5th and 6th at the 98 and 99 worlds (2nd in the SP in 98!) yet was never even close to medalling at Euros. She finished 7th in 94, and had other placements of 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th between 95 and 2000!

Vanessa Gusmeroli was the 97 World bronze medallist (again, 2nd in the SP) yet her highest finish at Euros was 4th. She was also as low as 11th, twice, at Euros, during her career. In fact, she won her world bronze, THREE YEARS before she even won her first national title!

I'm not sure about Kati Winkler and Rene Lohse's highest finish at Europeans, but I think it was lower than 3rd.

    Kati & Rene were 5th at the Euro's in 2000 & 2003. They had terrible injury trouble & missed the Euro's in 2002 & 2004 & the Worlds in 2003.
    I really liked them !.

Yes, Laetitia Hubert has always been better at Worlds.
Same with Vanessa Gusmeroli : 3rd at Worlds in 1997 (1st European skater) and never any Euros medal !

Stefan Lindemann 3rd at 2004 Worlds (3rd european skater).

Also, Peggy Schwarz and Mirko Muller were 3rd at 1998 Worlds, and never won any European medal.
I loved this pair, but Peggy didn't bear the pressure !
