Gary Coleman on Life Support after fall
Very sad news...,
It's almost as if that show WAS cursed.
Best of luck to him. That show's child actors all have had so many problems. It is almost too sad for words.
Does it say anywhere that it was from a fall? I didn't catch that.
From what I understand, some forms of dwarfism are associated with various other health problems.
Wow, what is it with that show?
ITA about the show being cursed. Did anyone see the latest issue of People Magazine? Dana Plato's son committed suicide almost 11 years to the day that she did
Yeah, that was tragic.
Todd Bridges seems to be hanging on and doing well. I saw him on Oprah a few weeks ago - he went through some serious shit as a kid, including sexual abuse and drug/alcohol abuse, but seems to be on the right track now. He has kids that are doing well too.
What exactly do they mean by "life support"? A breathing tube? Well, many many post-op patients go to the ICU with a breathing tube and are on so-called "life support". It doesn't mean they are likely to die, in fact not. If he fell and now has subdural bleeds, yeah, pretty major stuff. Wish we'd have more info.
I remember Diff'rent Strokes since it aired. His life has really been tough and it's hard not to feel empathy for him. Wish him a clean and quick recovery.
ETA: I saw the release that he died. He really lived longer than anyone could have expected. RIP.
TMZ and RadarOnline are reporting that Coleman just passed away. Have not been able to find it on any other news sources yet.
It was on network news a few minutes ago. It is confirmed he died of a brain hemorrhage. Contrary to what I've read on the internet, no mention of a fall causing the hemorrhage, they did say that he had a seizure a few months ago.
Message to Bret Michaels - please be careful!
Very sad news.
Very sad, only 42 years old.
RIP, Gary. Seemed like a kind soul who had so many hard knocks in life.
Looks like last year was the year of the "icon" dying... So far this year seems to be the year of the troubled childhood actor. RIP
His death has been announced:
Very sad, indeed.
Unfortunately he had severe kidney disease and likely blood vessel fragility in general, so even a more minor trauma could have affected him more than the average person. So sad, may he be happy in his personal paradise and remembered for his talents.
That's so sad. RIP Gary.
He's dead?! Whatchoo talkin' 'bout??
So sad, so young. But yeah, doubtless his kidney condition contributed to the likelihood of blood vessel injury.
What is it with celebrity intracranial hemorrhages these days? Gary Coleman, Natasha Richardson, Bret Michaels?
No more than the general population, especially following head trauma. Although I do admit that Natasha Richardson case was particularly insidious.
Bret Michael's wasn't caused by head trauma, was it?
So Gary died of a diff'rent stroke?
I didn't pay too much attention but wasn't it an aneurysm?
Do you think so?
My mother's cousin had severe kidney disease and died of a fall resulting from a sidewalk scuffle. Head injury is head injury, but now I wonder whether his kidney disease was a contributing factor.
Brett Michaels got hit in the head last year during rehearsals or the Tonys (I think).
I don't know about his, but mine wasn't.
How long ago? Are you okay? That must have been so frightening. Sending you great big hugs!
RIP, Gary Coleman!
Yes, this is true. Gosh I wish that man would take it easy. I'm not going to feel sorry for him if something else happens. RIP Gary; my childhood was the 70's.
heckles - now, really .
Normally Heckles' attempts at humor are lukewarm at best, but for some reason, this particular quip hit my funny bone and made me laugh - in no way was it , but it was humorous in a morbid way (I'd have called it black humor, but......well, you get the idea ).
For those who don't find it funny, it might be wise to brace yourself - it wouldn't surprise me in the least if eleventy thousand comedians/comediennes will all come up with that line and strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.
^^I await with bated breath...
That's sooo wrong but I giggled out loud when I read that.
Karina1974 posted about her experience in this thread: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=73274
Bret Michaels got hit in the head during the actual show, not rehearsals. I saw it on television if I am remembering correctly. I don't think anyone has been able to positively link that incident to his problems. He seems to have a ton of health issues and I think more than likely his recent issues are a combination of many of his other problems and not some hit on the head at the Tony's.
So sad about Gary Coleman, may he R.I.P.
Hopefully they think of one joke about it and make sure it's funny before they say it unlike heckles here who seemed a little too desperate to be funny. It's one thing to say something, hit or miss, and keep scratching it like it's an itch.
More hugs for Karina.
On another - and I hope not insensitive note - I wonder what they will do in Avenue Q?
5 years ago in August. But I wrote all about that on the Bret Michaels thread.
I have to say this hit me in the gut. I had been on Yahoo briefly while getting online to do something work-related, so I knew about the hemorrhage. And then, when I got home, I went onto another message board, and there was a thread saying in the title that he had died. And it is very hard for me to avoid the thought of why did I survive and all of these other people I hear about get so much trouble afterwards. Just let it float through my head and then leave, and don't try to hang onto it.
There will be changes to the show.
