    Ray Harryhausen, who has had such a major impact on modern filmmakers and animators I can't even tell you, has died at age 92.

    Another great passes away. RIP

    This video here highlights just how good he was at creating visual effects - the famous sword fight with the skeleton warriors from the 1963 film, Jason and the Argonauts. For 1963, it was well ahead of its time and just goes to show what pioneer he was. And as many commentators have pointed out, without him there would have been no Star Wars in 1977.
