Nicole Kidman looks like she has Vulcan ears
I think there are some chances that Benning could win, as it seems some people didn´t like so much Black Swan acting (calling it overinterpretation). Now, Colin Firth not winning would be really shocking.
OK, this is hilarious on CNN's front page:
Jeez....King + handicap + war vs. college student. Which picture will take it? I haven't seen either picture but that competition looks lopsided.
I've heard the same rumblings.
Gwenth should never ever ever wear that color. she is one color all over, skin, hair, dress.
She is the best dressed 99.999999% of the time IMO. The dress she won in is still the best dress evah EVAHHHHH!
Team Bening here.
ITA! Colin Firth and Natalie Portman should win the leading acting category.
It hides any stain in case it's that time of the month?
Robin somewhat sucks as a red carpet interviewer.
Gwyneth said Jay-Z for a duet.....um....ok Gwyneth.
I'd feel bad for Natalie; she looks tired, hormonal and ready to pop and she had to wear heels tonight.
Was wondering if she was having contractions ( assuming she wouldn't take downers when pregnant). She just looked really uncomfortable.
It's amazing the things we agree about, all of which are more important than the things we don't agree about.
Just saw ScarJo - Worst I've seen her look in a while.
She, Hailee Stanfield and Hilary Swank are the best I've seen so far.
She looks beautiful, but I respectfully disagree. IMO Helen Mirren wins best dressed award.
I hope not. I didn't like A.Bening in Kids are All Righ. She was not convincing at all. OTOH, if Mark Ruffalo wins in the best supporting actor category, I will be
Me too. My hatred of Black Swan is legendary but I thought Portman did a good job with an impossibly melodramatic part. Benning, through, is a treasure and I love that she looked her age in that movie. And carried the movie in that role, she was wonderful.
I think Hailee Steinfeld is the best dressed, personally.
I really REALLY hope so
I thought The Kids Are Allright was really boring and that Benning wasn't that special
I'm actually pulling for anyone *but* Bening for the win .
I haven't seen The Black Swan, so I don't know who of the two deserves it more, but I will say that Annette Benning totally deserves it. Even though she's not that popular, I also wouldn't be upset with Nicole Kidman winning. The supporting actress category is going to be exciting too--lots of deserving potential winners.
The "problem" with this year's women's nominees (though it's a great problem to have) is that it's so much stronger than it's been in several years, and none of the nominees are great actresses that did more than make themselves ugly. I really wish Julianne Moore had been nominated for Supporting Actress, but I don't know who I would take away either. I hope this is a sign of better roles for women in general, and not an anomaly.
I'm trying to think of who is going to be the beneficiary of Melissa Leo's commercial molehill--the controversy over that is beyond hypocritical--Amy Adams or Helena Bonham Carter.
LOVE her dress, love the retro look, but I agree with someone upthread who said the dress needed a bit more color, it kinda makes her look washed out. But I'd totally go out and buy that dress tomorrow if I could afford it.
See, the important things, just like you said.
I like the color and think her hair and makeup looks great. I just don't like the ruching around the waist and hips. It makes the dress look wrinkled to me. I'm also not a fan of the shoulders. Here's a picture of the full look.
Cyn, and oleada, I'm with you on that one.
She's been robbed before, so I want her to win now, even if this might not be her best performance...like Joan Fontaine winning for Suspicion.
