Last article says that Plushenko might make an appearance but they're waiting for the OK from the Russian Olympic Committee.

Interesting to see Duhamel/Radford in the mix....I don't think of them as "opera on ice". Good for them.

Why is he even taking chances at this time? He needs to be focused on the Olympics if he is serious about competing in Sochi.

I doubt one show in September is going to disrupt his preparation for February. It's not like he needs to jump to perform in Opera on Ice.
Besides, it's not even sure he's going to be there, so...

Nice to see Shizuka back at Opera on Ice! I really liked what she did there last year. Great for Duhamel/Radford to get the chance to perform there too. It really is such a great venue and setting.
No Berton/Hotarek yet again :( I wonder why they never skate there ...

Plushy has 8 shows in Tokyo, 12.07-15.07. If I right remember the whole Russian team will be in Sochi traning camp at beginning of september, when the Opera on ice will be held.

I know that this might be a VERY biased opinion, but I think that Berton/Hotarek would be perfect for Opera On Ice :)

Opera on Ice is going to be held at the end of the month, September 28th to be precise, not at the beginning. Of course, it depends on how long the training camp is going to last.

I totally agree and I really don't see why they are still not part of the show as they are Italian and becoming quite popular there ... as far as I can remember they took part in "Opera on Ice St. Petersburg" (although I think this had nothing to do with the actual show in Verona?).

Here is a recent photo and press release from Carolina official FB page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...050023.-2207520000.1372159152.&type=3&theater
It basically says that this year's show will use songs from the 2014 opera season of the Arena in Verona including Carmen, Aida, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Romeo & Juliet and Masquerade Ball. In addition to the skaters there will be 200 artists that make up the orchestra and the choir of the Arena.

It has nothing to do with an actual "Opera on Ice". They just used the same name.

Really? WOW that would be great. They are really good and I would love to see a show combining figure skating and rhythmic gymnastics :)

OK thank you, I thought so :)

I think it's time for me to get my eyes checked, as I read the subject line as "Oprah on Ice".

    Some more news:

Young tenor star Vittorio Grigolo will be part of the show - he will perform "Ave Maria" with Stéphane amongst others.
Stéphane's second program looks to be "Toréador" judging by his latest Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...35361419.40546.172658576100205&type=1&theater

Also, this looks like the rink in Oberstdorf so I am hoping him and Salomé will also choreograph Carolina's programs for the show again.

Carolina will skate “La danza delle ore” (Gioconda) and “Va’ pensiero” (Nabucco).

I saw both of them just recently, we talked about their recent works, about Verona, none of them mentioned working with Carolina, so I don't think they did.

I don't think it's forbidden to take videos there.

Last year it was strictly forbidden for the press (and they really checked that), but was not for anybody else. :)

Opera On Ice 2013 - group number will be "Nessun dorma", as special tribute to Luciano Pavarotti "Vivo in Paradiso" http://t.co/j730h1MgEG

I cannot wait to see this, YES!!!! :encore:

Seriously, I love opera, and wish Carolina would skate to opera for her Olympic programs to pay homage to her Italian heritage. Jmho. :)

A nice addition would be Surya Bonaly, whom is also an opera lover, and is known for her touching operatic 1994 Olympic Exhibition to such: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLqQJWh52Pw

It's fitting that Evgeni would be here also, he reminds me of the Luciano Pavarotti of figure skating. :hat1:
