That was from the made for TV movie about Oksana. I watched that years ago and thought they picked a great actress to portray Oksana.

LMAO and the blatant retake for the jump at the start of the program...

Why does the description of that clip say "SHOT ON FILM, NOT VIDEO" ??? Like it matters either way?

Hard to tell if it was a blatant cutaway on her first jump because they did that on all her jumps and spins for some reason. I'm sure if they re-did it she would have bothered to do a triple lutz instead of a double.

Yes, it really does! :) Film is much higher quality. Video is cheaper and therefore used widely, but not for high quality productions. Film also lasts longer. Or at least that's the way it was back before digital.

Not arguing with that, but this movie originally aired on TV, and I believe was available on VHS for a period of time (neither of which are "film"). I just don't see the point of the all caps ranting on that video.

Assuming she could actually do a triple at that point? It's obviously a bad splice because a) she's not at the same spot on the ice when they change camera and b) after the turns following the lutz, you see another bad splice into what was probably the original jump landing...really bad editing there!

I think they pointing out it was on 'film' (35 mm for TV or big screen) verses something someone recorded themselves at a rink on a camcorder. At any rate, I too don't think it matters, not enough to shout about it. Glad they uploaded it though.

Nice to see another version of that program. :40beers: That , along with Yuka Sato and Kurt Browning's LPs from the same season, are what made me a fan of FS for life.

Accuracy in skating movies is not usually a priority. (Ex. Ice Princess, Cutting Edge 1-3, Tonya and Nancy: The Inside Story.) They have the skate double do a double jump but slice it, dice it, repeat it and zoom in to where it looks like a triple or a quad. Ridiculous!

Maybe Oksana couldn't do a 3z by the time this movie was made, but it couldn't have been too long after the Olympics because she's still thin as a rail. I just figured it was still a possibility for her, especially with unlimited re-take potential.

I think the double lutz was in fact a replay in a different angle of the double flip later in the program... check the arms position, it's the same that the flip!

That's what I thought, too -- the turns after are also identical..

Now that you mention it, that definitely looks possible!

Geez, I saw the thread title and thought she had made a porn movie or something equally "revealing"...

The actress who played Oksana was Monica Keena. It was her very first role. She later went on to play Abby Morgan in Dawson's Creek.

This was clearly very soon after the Olympics based on Oksana's appearance. I wonder if this happened after the incident in Sun Valley where Oksana hurt her knee? If so, no wonder there was no 3lutz.

The title IS sort of suggestive, isn't it?

 I think there is an online training program in how to make your thread titles as suggestive as possible so that everyone will want to read them.

The main things I remember when I saw that movie was the part where her mother died was heartbreaking and they made it look like when she got her leg cut at the Olympics she had been hacked to pieces.

Yeah, I remember there was a lady on the old Prodigy skating board whose little daughter freaked out when she saw all that blood. She thought Oksana was dying.

Seems like the original airdate was fall of 1994.
