All right, don't expect a poll, because this is too individual ... wonder if there will be replies at all???!

However, love, Love, LOVE!!! "There's A Light That Never Goes Out" although it's pretty morbid ... and then, of course ... "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" ... :D

"How Soon Is Now" and "Bigmouth Strikes Again". :swoon:

Very boring choices but those are their biggest hits for a reason. :p

I'm sure I'm predictable, but "How Soon Is Now" is one of my favorite songs by anybody, ever.

I love love love Jeff Buckley's cover of I Know It's Over inserted into his cover of Hallelujah - it happens in the middle of the song or so.

definitely 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out'
'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before' gets honorable mention.

I don't know why 'How Soon Is Now?' is so popular. It's my least favorite popular song from them.

    I Know It's Over.

This is undoubtedly sacrilege, but I prefer t.A.T.u.'s screechy, heavily accented, angsty-teen version of 'How Soon Is Now.' Of course, I grew up with them so that's probably why. I would never have listened to The Smiths if they hadn't covered that song.

I watched that on youtube and immediately thought of the TV show Charmed. I googled and found out that the Charmed opening song is a cover by Love Spit Love

It's a terrible cover but I totally relate to what you are saying. It's wrong, yet so right. It fits t.A.T.u. really well and yeah nostalgia as well. :)

Wow, I'm really out of the loop. I've never heard of the Smiths or of any of these songs. I'll check out youtube & be back.

"How Soon is Now", "Bigmouth Strikes Again" and "Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before", but really just about any Smiths song.

I'm going to see Morrissey in concert in November. Not the same, but I'm still looking forward to it!

My favorite is that song in which Morrissey whines something melodramatic.

Wow - so many great choices. Bigmouth Strikes Again, There is a Light that Never Goes Out, and How Soon is Now are obvious candidates, but I also love Hand in Glove, Unhappy Birthday and Last Night I Dreamt that Somebody Loved Me. It's the combination of Morrissey's angelic voice with their twisted and cynical lyrics that gets me.

BTW - for a cover of How Soon is Now, I'd vote for Richard Butler's version. :D

OK, don't really get the love for "How soon is now" either  , but then, there's still, "There is a light that never goes down", "I know it's over", "Girlfriend in a coma", "Ask (me)", "Bigmouth strikes again", "This charming man", "Reel around the fountain", "Rubber ring", and, and, and....:swoon:
