So T&T lost to Panama in PKs. T&T had many chances to win but nerves get the better of them. It was a great match however. The USA beat Cuba 6-0 yesterday. The Cubans was without at least four players who defected and seemed to be out of their depth, but with all that they still did better than Canada. LOL

Michel Platini wants the top job at FIFA in the worst way. He allegedly already has secured support from some federations. I don't want Platini to have the top job but what the fans and players want are of no consequence to the powers that be at FIFA.

OMG, I did not know that until I read your post... I had a feeling Klinsmann should have gone with the team that got such good results in Europe. Oh well, a Jamaica v Panama final would be kind of awesome.

Nope! Keep Klinsmann! The USA is on the rise and this is just bump on the road. Have every confidence they will learn from this and keep improving.

In preparation for the soccer World Cup 2006, Germany lost 0:4 (I think) to Italy... I know they still lost to Italy during the Cup, however, they also won the bronze medal! (Not to mention that they played great)
It really annoys me how everyone always wants to fire a coach in soccer in situations like these. You don't see that happening in basketball or ice hockey, as far as I know, and also, a coach can only do so much. The rest is up to the players. And everyone can have a bad day, and the US obviously did yesterday. It happens. Learn from it and move on. Results can only be achieved longterm and not by changing the coach every time you lose a game.

The WC 2018 qualification draw was held in Russia today and attended by Sepp Blatter.

That did not get by John Oliver who mentioned this. First he called FIFA "An international crime syndicate that occasionally organizes soccer matches." And when Blatter thanked Putin and grabbed his hand Oliver said he was surprised they were able to touch each other "without opening a vortex of concentrated evil."

I love John.

Also Ottawa was on his docket tonight because the number of men from that city who have signed up on the Ashley Madison website. And the awful mandatory minimums in US prison sentencing that must go was his feature tonight.

And apparently, Hulk from Brazil was scheduled to be one of the players doing the actual drawing but he had recently critisized the racism issue in Russia openly, so he was disinvited. And none of the national soccer federations or sponsors feels the need to do something. How lovely. :wall:

Jeez: How does one rescue the world's game from these villains? Oliver was reporting about FIFA last night because--finally--sponsors such as Budweiser, McDonalds, VISA and Coke are threatening to withdraw their support. One of their demands involves an independent commission and open books. Oh my.

He also talked about Webster's bail hearing which was set at ten million dollars. He met his bail by cashing in on his Ferrari, ten different properties and six Rolex watches. Maybe Webster always had this kind of money in his accounts....and maybe not....

Money talks, everything else walks. Only went the sponsors bail en masse would FIFA get serious. And Platini is just as scummy as the rest so nothing will change for the better if he ever takes over FIFA.

Platini has finally announced his candidacy for FIFA president and I am certain he will win. Right now I feel so crushed and defeated. FIFA will never change.

It really bothers me when the people reporting the news seems to know less than I do. LOL According to Sports Illustrated FIFA and the sponsors are in a secret meeting. But the article mentions that FIFA president Sepp Blatter will not seek a third term as a member of the IOC.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter will not seek third IOC term
Embattled outgoing FIFA chief Sepp Blatter will not seek a third, eight-year term as a member of the International Olympic Committee.
