I swear if Barca do not make the CL final I will be a worse blubbering mess than when France beat Brazil 3-0 in '98.

FTR, and to no ones surprise, FIFA declined Costa Rica's protest on a technicality. The game result stands.

NJL

I know it's been a couple of weeks but I heard from my parents in Germany that there the media reported that the Costa Ricans were the ones who wanted the game to continue after the referee had interrupted it about half-way through. If true, then I understand why the protest was declined.

Evidently both captains were asked and both said to continue. Evidently the CR coach thought they could tie or win the game. It was after the game was over that the complaining and accusations began.

The actual reason it was refused was the protest was lodged too late for consideration. It had to be at CONCACAF/FIFA HQ within hours of the matches end & it got there a day or so later. That gave TPTB in FIFA their out. With that they did not have to pass judgment on the game conditions or the referee's decision. They could just refuse to hear the complaint on the technicality of the protest being filed too late.

The return match in CR should be a wild one.

The NASL's wonderful split season & it's demand that teams win early gave us 3 draws in it's opening week end. Three games producing 2 goals in a 1-1 draw and 2 scoreless draws. Not exactly what TPTB had in mind when the decided on this unique, for North America, configuration. Now 6 of the 7 teams are tied for 1st place with 1 in last place. We'll see how all this plays out in week #2.

NJL (FTR, the Strikers played Edmonton to a 1-1 draw in front of 5,201 people at Lockhart Stadium....it was a loud, fun evening...:)...)

Don't like this split season stuff myself, but it's not like the opinion of fans ever mattered to the powers that be. However I do hope that the NASL can sort itself out soon. :)

It's Manchester derby time!!!! :EVILLE:

From what we've been able to drag out of the people we know that are knowledgeable about the thinking in NASL the split season may become a permanent feature. However, with the possibility of a 12 team league next year and several (possibly 3 at a minimum) teams from California & other points west joining the league in 2015 they may have to rethink the schedule yet again. 15 or 16 teams means a 28 to 30 game schedule if everyone plays each other home & home once. That's over half the week ends in a year. A month break in the summer could mean a 7 or 8 month schedule. Anyone for games in Ottawa or Edmonton, possibly Calgary, in March or late November? It might make that USA/Costa Rica game look like the norm.

We'll see how it plays out in the next few years. As it is the NASL looks to be in pretty good shape if it keeps doing what it is doing. In time it could give both countries a viable, and very useful, Div II.

An all Spanish CL final is looking increasingly likely. Just a couple more games to go. LOL

Barca and Bayern make up the final quartet, however Barca was not very impressive in their 1-1 tie with PSG.

I'm so glad goal-line technology is being introduced in the English Premier league. It might slow the game down a fraction, but there have been so many occasions when wrong decisions ruined the match and rendered it unjust.

NBC will start airing English Premire League matches on it's main network and NBC Sports. NBC reportedly paid $250m for a three year deal, but what does this mean for the MLS?!

For MLS it will be business as usual. For the EPL it will be business as usual. There is some overlap, but one ends just about the time the other one starts. I don't see one stepping on the others toes that much.

My boys plays Aston Villa today and if they win, the title is theirs with 4 games on hand! So here's to hoping they clean up!!!!!! :cheer2:

Oh and BTW Louis Saurez isin trouble again. This time for biting an opponent and he's been fined by Liverpool but a suspension might be on the way

Congrats to ManU. Well deserved title.

And Suarez is a complete idiot. Second time he's done this, whatever suspension he gets wont be enough.

I agree with both comments. Suarez deserves at least 20 games. Last 5 this season, then 15 more starting next season. Minimum.

PLUS.......Bayern Munich 4 v 0 Barcelona........ Mercy! As thorough an ass-kicking as I've ever seen Barca get. I do not see them overcoming the 4 goal deficit next week either. Bayern to move to the ECL final.

Hope dies last my friend... I am still praying for a miracle.

Think a disaster might be what's needed for Barca to go through. They looked awful, though and deserved that spanking. I almost wonder if Messi tried too hard when it comes to beating the record for most goals in a year since he's looked out of sorts ever since the rash of small injuries he's had late this season.

And Suarez is a complete idiot. Second time he's done this, whatever suspension he gets wont be enough.

Mandatory tooth removal after more than one act of cannibalism? Seriously, this is so random, I cannot believe it's a repeat offense.

Dortmund is leading 1-0 at the moment. :(

And looked v. good until that might-have-been penalty. Very unfocused afterwards and lucky they only have a tied game on their hands at halftime.

An all-German CL final in Wembley? I'm sure the Brits will be delighted ... :D

Truly, as a German I (would) love to see glorious Dortmund and their fantastic :cheer2: being there, against Barca, please! For several reasons I would prefer Bayern to stay at home in their tiny little country. The main reason: I simply do-not-like-them-at-all, never did, never will. :drama:

One can only hope Messi will have a Lewandowski day against Bayern in Barcelona! :kickass:

Reading and QPR both are going to be relegated after drawing 0-0. I wonder if Redknapp will stick around after this, personally I hope he does.
