Since the Philippines has its own thread, that leaves less than a handful of obscure Asian skating Feds, so this can cover Mexico, South Africa, and South American skaters, too.

Misha Ge made it onto a postage stamp:

This is the correct Misha Ge stamps link:
We currently also have general skating news threads for Japanese and Chinese skaters (links added).

Re-posting from the Programs thread: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/sho...he-2014-2015&p=4287358&viewfull=1#post4287358
The IN blog article states Min/Koleto plan to debut their programs (SD to "Malaguena" and "Fiesta Flamenca" by Monty Kelly choreographed by Shpilband and FD to The Triplets of Belleville soundtrack & Caravan Palace's "Suzy" choreographed by Christopher Dean) at the U.S. International Classic in Salt Lake City in September.

ETA the Korean skaters who will make their Senior Grand Prix debut this fall:

So Youn Park (Skate America, Rostelecom Cup)
    Hae Jin Kim (Skate Canada)
    Jin Seo Kim (NHK)

Rebeka KIM / Kirill MINOV are #39 on the ISU SB scores list (6th in ice dance at the 2014 World Junior Championships). Their ISU bio says they are coached by Irina Zhuk and Alexander Svinin in Moscow: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00054325.htm

Anna Nagornyuk and Elizaveta Tretyakova from Uzbekistan both appear to have new partners and both are also still with Kustarova.

At the 2:00 mark of the Latvian video posted a few weeks ago, you see Nagornyuk and her new partner Igor Ogay. http://m.liepajniekiem.lv/tv-kurzem...isinas-krievijas-dailslidotaju-nometne-117404

In this photo from Sergey Mozgov, you see Tretyakova and her new partner in the background.

Anybody know if Viktor Kovalenko has found a partner yet?

Local Canadian article on the Maekawas: http://www.sookenewsmirror.com/sports/265257211.html
It sounds like they are planning to compete at Finlandia Trophy in Espoo, October 10-12, as well as the inaugural Autumn Classic International in Barrie, Canada, October 14-17, 2014.

I know this is very early in the Olympic cycle, but I find it interesting that there are already 2 Korean teams vying the dance slot needed for the 2018 Olympic team competition in Pyeongchang. I wonder if any pairs team will surface in the upcoming year.

I remember Sergei Astashev relocating from US to South Korea after being hired by the Korean Federation to help develop Ice Dance and Pairs programs there. I wonder if he's still there an whether the federation has any other projects with that aim.

    From Tim Koleto's Twitter feed:

    Out:
Due to changes in our competition schedule, we will NOT begin our 2014/15 season at the US International Classic, as previously planned.

    In:
We will debut our new programs and kick off the season at Nebelhorn. See you in Oberstdorf!

That's interesting. Allie was still quite young when she stopped competing. Hopefully this means that she is back with a renewed love for the sport.

I'm guessing that she would be 21 or 22 by now.

I guess she felt that competing in speed skating was just going around in circles. :shuffle:

"The first training camp of the Brazilian National Figure Skating team was held in Floyd Hall Arena in Little Falls NJ in July 2014." Short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nBJd46SGr8

Related news item posted on Brazil's ice sports federation page: http://www.cbdg.org.br/menu/artgoslista/noticias/152-trabalho-duro

Google translation from Portuguese to English: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=pt&tl=en&u=http://www.cbdg.org.br/menu/artgoslista/noticias/152-trabalho-duro
Coaches at the camp were Kristen Fraser, Igor Lukanin and Vitaly Danylchenko.

Besides Isadora Williams and Luiz Manella, one of the younger skaters that participated in the camp is Karolina Calhoun, who was the 2013 U.S. Juvenile Girls champion and is currently competing at the Novice level.

Good, it means Manella is still competing, he dissapeared completely last season after barely missing the oly spot.

Off topic, but I get so infuriated with USFS policy of having more skaters compete at the Senior level than the lower levels at US Nationals when you have so much more young skaters training (as time goes on, entropy gradually reduces the numbers). It just doesn't make any sense.

Anyways, does Calhoun have any links to Brazil? I don't care whether she does, just curious. I think that she is a very elegant and interesting skater, beautiful to watch and I am very happy that she is going to get more opportunities after not managing to qualify to US Nationals last season.

Any idea if Denis Margalik will get any fall Senior B's representing Argentina?

Margalik is listed as "TBC" for Argentina in the entries list of JGP #4 in Japan that was published today.

Brazil's Isadora Williams recently uploaded a video of her Short Program Run Through to "Stairway to Heaven" (cello? version). I saw this video posted in the Programs thread and wanted to test posting it as a link to YouTube rather than physically embedding the video here.

    ETA:
I would imagine she has a family connection to Brazil (her mother perhaps?) in order to have participated in Brazil's training camp. She may be planning to compete in U.S. qualifying competition (Regionals in October) this season... we'll see.

Here is the FS performance which gave Calhoun the US Juvenile National Title two seasons ago:

Last season she narrowly missed qualifying to Novice Nationals (5th or 6th at Sectionals, IIRC?).

Slovenia? He was first skating for Slovenia (in lower levels like debs etc) before representing Australia in Junior GP. So it would be like a comeback for him.

I miss Ziggy. :( Here's the link to the 2013 Karolina Calhoun video he posted originally (it was embedded before and "disappeared" when the auto-embed feature on FSU was turned off by an admin.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsGk3P4Q0UU
And to belatedly answer Ziggy's question (correct him even though he won't see it)... Calhoun finished 8th in Intermediate at Pacific Coast Sectionals in November 2013.
