Adrian announced that he has had to give up on his plans for the Sochi Olympics due to back problems. You can read a message for his fans from him and a translation of the press release on his official website.

sad to hear - the article sounds like a farewell to me (though of course i know he's not ruling out the possibility of competing at Euros in 2015). He's right in being satisfied with what he's achieved!

Well, that's depressing. I was hoping to see him again - preferably with an original program or two.

It's good that he remains involved in skating, and I hope he'll have much success in the future.

That is too bad. I've always found his skating and music on the quirky side - sorta like a Scandinavian Ilia Klimkin. But guys like him keep it interesting. Sorry about his back.

What Rex said. I'm glad to read that he's keeping involved as a coach (at least for now) - hopefully he can encourage his students to carry on with the quirk :)

This is really sad - for him, and for us, figure skating fans, who enjoyed watching his programs. His special style brought something different to competitive skating.

Rex - you captured my sentiments perfectly.

It's always a shame when a skater is forced to stop competing due to injury, but I hope that he will find equally fulfilling activities, whether within the sport or in other arenas.

Such a shame that he can't compete. Such an interesting and innovative skater. But I think he will make a very creative coach. :)

You need to get beyond Klimkin one day. I met him out at a club last year with his wife, and he was nice. I can see the comparison looks- and physique-wise.

Such a shame, I was hoping he'd be able to make it back. But, good for him for prioritizing the rest of his life over "right now". Poor guy, he was fantastically fun to watch. Wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
