He must've really been making a scene since the only time people get arrested for "public drunkenness" in New Orleans is during Mardi Gras. Of course, it was tacked on after the much more serious charges of domestic battery was brought up.

I was going to say that I thought Public Sobriety was a bigger crime in the Big Easy...

I'm not a Cage fan, so this matters little to me, but I do like the National Treasure and Sorcerer's Apprentice movies. Hope this was a one-time pub crawl, but I doubt it.

There's a domestic violence charge too.

For the record, I wouldn't joke about domestic violence.

The first news headline I read yesterday (before this thread was created) only mentioned the drunkenness charge. As I said, my first thought last night was that being arrested for drunkenness must be unusual in the Big Easy. The breaking news didn't say he was arrested for domestic violence.

They probably used the public drunkeness charge to bring him into the station, then ascertained the domestic violence situation, not the other way around. The bender made him easier to lock up for a few hours until the cops got to the bottom of things. Unless the wife wanted to press charges, they couldn't arrest him for attacking her and she had to be sober to file the complaint.

Apparently the wife is not pressing charges and she claims there was never any physical contact. It seems he was just stupid drunk and didn't know where he was staying and he was arguing with his wife over which place was theirs. Kinda funny but it doesn't sound like he touched her.

NOPD must really hate Cage in Port of Call OR those back taxes must have really hit them hard--the going rate for bribing your friendly neighborhood officer is only about $300.

Who could hate Cage in Port of Call? It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. I realize that was NOT the intention but it was so over the top it was GREAT!
