if you are lucky, it will rain and it will be drawn out over more than 1 day
Sainted Mother of Billie Jean King, I hope not! Today's my last day of vacation, back to the salt mines tomorrow!
Agreed, I think if it weren't for the rain delay, Petrova would have won. Sharapova really has no critical thinking skills on the court. She doesn't know how to adjust her game during a match. I think she does well in non-majors because of on-court-coaching, and with a rain delay she can get advice.
Yeah, for such a successful player, Sharapova is completely brainless on court. I mean, completely.
That it is and he didn't exactly lay down and give up either. *Very* good learning experience for Milos and ITA w/you...Go Andy!!
If I could figure out a way to cross the border w/out a passport, do you take stowaways along w/you?
Seriously, have a fantastic time and think of those of us here who have to live the experience through TV.
Any news on AndyRoo's match? I had to flip it over to MasterChef and then what passes for our pathetic Paralympic Coverage here in Canada started at 10pm. When I turned it back to TSN, they were doing SportsCentre and talking about the mess that was the Blue Jays game tonight, so I have no idea if it's going to be carried over to tomorrow or not, but I'm guessing it is.
BTW, having a roof on a stadium isn't always what it's cracked up to be. I'm guessing the same system hit Toronto tonight and for the first time ever, they couldn't get roof at the Dome to work and close. Then to add even more to that chaos, the Fire Alarm started going off.
Talk about the exclamation point to one rotten injury filled season. As my cousin said, they should be called the Toronto Black and Blue Jays due to how many were/are on the DL.
More sh!tty weather forecast for today in NYC!
Thunderstorms should begin at around *drumroll please*: 11am!
Blerg, there are actually some pretty interesting matches today, 'twould be a pity to get rained out.....
And we're playing!!!
Bartoli takes Set 1, Maria at a breakpoint in the 2nd.
I expect Maria to steamroll his final set...
i hope so, marion's spazziness makes me feel like i need a fistful of xanax
Hopefully - even if that means I have to listen to more shrieking
Errani beat Vinci
No steam rollering but Sharapova did win through
Vika and Maria Friday. Should be a good match.
I'm picking Vika to win in 2 sets.
Not enjoying both Maria and Marion meant I could actually enjoy the match, as I didn't give a single **** who actually won - I just appreciated the tennis. Perhaps this is the way forward for me in all sports? Maybe I've been getting too emotionally involved to enjoy it? Hmmm...
My stars, between AndyRoo and The Boys, I'm like a lemming perched on a cliff today........
I've decided. I'll hate them all and actually enjoy it.
Andy Roddick has won the first set - he is really aiming to retire on a high - good for him. Let's see if he can make it to the quarters
The Boys are up 3-0 in the first set.
Andy has to hold serve to stay in the second set.
Fergus is so *clenched*, he could turn coal into a diamond with his sphincter.
AndyRoo and Del Bunny Nose into another tie-break!
One set all.
The thing that kills me about this match is the fact that I really REALLY dig Del Potro. He's absolutely one of my top three fave men's singles players. I think he's a big lovable Sasquatch of a kid with a damn good game.
But it's my 'Roo, so ya know.......
Oh bless you... but you're bringing up my hoisin duck.
Come on Delpo!
Listen up, Supertwink, I'm on the cusp of a Frances Farmer-esque collapse right now, so you can just take a bloody Pepcid.
Oh, and just to save you the time: Frances Farmer
At least Andy will get sent into retirement by a GS winner.
All the best in your post-tennis life, Andy.
I'm so glad you provided a link. I had NO idea what your first sentence meant.
Love seeing del Potro play so well. I've always liked him but injury has kept him from playing his best. He was so calm and collected.
Delpo showing a huge amount of class ... stepping aside to allow Roddick his moment. Great sportsmanship.
Very moving speech by Andy also
A giant three cheers:
Del Potro, you are a gentleman to the Nth degree. (And you've just moved up a spot on my "favorite current men's singles players" list, Bunny Nose!!! ).
Whew, at least The Boys won.
