The thing that kills me about this match is the fact that I really REALLY dig Del Potro. :cheer2: He's absolutely one of my top three fave men's singles players. I think he's a big lovable Sasquatch of a kid with a damn good game.

But it's my 'Roo, so ya know....... :slinkaway

Listen up, Supertwink, I'm on the cusp of a Frances Farmer-esque collapse right now, so you can just take a bloody Pepcid.

    ( ;) )

Oh, and just to save you the time: Frances Farmer :D

At least Andy will get sent into retirement by a GS winner.

Love seeing del Potro play so well. I've always liked him but injury has kept him from playing his best. He was so calm and collected.

Delpo showing a huge amount of class ... stepping aside to allow Roddick his moment. Great sportsmanship.

Very moving speech by Andy also:fragile:

    (((((ANDYROO))))) :respec:

    A giant three cheers: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Del Potro, you are a gentleman to the Nth degree. (And you've just moved up a spot on my "favorite current men's singles players" list, Bunny Nose!!! :D ).

Whew, at least The Boys won. :biggrinbo

Cilic would choke a 5-1 lead.

Served for the set TWICE. Led 4-2 in TB. Lost it 7-4. Obviously.

Yawn. Serena's draw is so soft - she won't be challenged until the final. Maybe not even then.

I wish Andy all the best in his retirement. He never gave up on the thought he could win a major again until the very end. He knew it was time to go and went. Respect.

    Cilic you idiot.

Considering the only people she could play in the final the final could be her easiest match of all. If it is Maria even more likely it will be.

I think DelPo/Bunny Nose won an awful lot of fans today w/his out and out classy handling of things. He also just rose very high on my list of Favourites. Good on him!!

Andy, thanks for all of the memories and Good Luck in this phase of life. Nothing but respect for someone who realized it was time and didn't want to be one of those athletes who stays far too long. Not only respect to him, but also Andy showing respect to the sport he loves so much.

Can't say more than that. I'll miss him.

I wish the best for Andy too. I am not a fan of his game, or the way he treated the umpires, but he's been a hard worker and his pressers were usually hilarious.

Random - but Nike is the sponsor of the last four women here. This means all the women who won slams this year were sponsored by Nike.

Ooof, you can tell Fed is NOT happy about having a 1st set tie-break. :watch:

Or that fact that in said t-b he's down 5-1 at the moment.

    Berdy takes the 1st set!

I get a really itty-bitty Norma Desmond vibe off of Rog these days. :shuffle: Still love him, though......

I don't like when Fed gets frustrated, it makes me feel unstable and anxious. Like when the stock market tanks or when drunk women get all flirty and touchy-feely. :(

I'm a huge Federer fan so this is not helping my mental health lol. But let's not forget that Federer came back from two sets to love down at both of the previous grand slams, so...

Yikes - looks like I'll have to switch to the match as soon as Clinton's done his speech.

But yes, he's pulled these out before so that must give less panic.

    Ok, NOW we can panic.

Berdy just has to hold serve to win it.

Knowing Berdych he'll probably collapse completely in the next match.

I wouldn't assume that, the last time he beat Federer in a slam in the quarters he made the final.

Too bad about Roger but at least he got a slam this year. I think the Djoker will repeat.
