    2011 GP schedule

    2012 Natls schedule

    Note some changes:

    - SA is now THREE hours, up from 2 last year, and coverage airs SATURDAY instead of Sunday

    - Nationals will now split Men/Pairs on Sunday and Ice Dance will get its own broadcast window on Saturday

Saturday afternoon coverage instead of football???? I'm betting a substantial number of markets will not be showing GP skating.

I'm sure that the network set the schedule to accommodate its' coverage of football, be it College or Pro.
Cable channels/stations now buy many of the "packages" that once "pre-empted" network programming.

Except when local markets preempt which they do frequently to show local or regional games. If the regional University has a deal with an NBC affiliate, they'll bump skating everytime. :( Just wait and hear the :wuzrobbed this fall.

Is there a particular reason NBC never shows Cup of China?

Nice start. Hopefully Universal Sports will be showing lots more than this, as in the past.

My thoughts exactly. There won't be any fs coverage in this part of the world.

*sigh* Another reason to add to my list of reasons someone needs to hire me in my field so I can get out of this area.

The only football NBC shows on Saturdays are Notre Dame home games. So the skating will be scheduled around those games.

Why no Cup of China coverage?

Not looking at the GP schedule right now is NBC showing Skate Canada and NHK on a week's delay? Are Bompard Trophy and Cup of Russia shown with no week's delay? GP Final is same weekend coverage, right?

The Skate America broadcast on October 22 will air just before the Notre Dame/USC game, which is a night game for the first time in history.

Notre Dame has had home night games before vs both Michigan State and Michigan so I assume you mean they're hosting USC at night for the first time. ;)

Good to see coverage increase. A lot of us don't have Universal Sports access.

We are waiting to get Cincinnati Bell Fioptics here in our area, we would rather hold out for that than get DirectTV. It will be good to have some coverage on NBC to hold me until then. My stepdaughter has Fioptics and loves it. They have the perfect sports package for me and my husband.

Hopefully I will have Universal Sports by Worlds or sooner. We have Insight right now and they don't even offer a package that includes Universal Sports...they pretty much suck overall. I will still probably subscribe to Universal Sports online...I like to see more skaters than the top 3 or 4 which is pretty much what NBC gives you.

Nice to see the GP back on NBC. I could not get Universal and sorely missed watching the competitions on TV.

Actually, last year NBC showed the GP ladies and men's competitions except for Cup of China. It looks about the same as last year except for an added hour onto Skate America.

Our local affiliate of NBC aired only NHK and Skate America last year. I hope they air all the events this year.

Thank God for this coverage on NBC. We moved to Florida, which doesnt get Universal Sports, so I'll take what I can get.

On the Universal Sports website, they say in the Orlando area its over the air on channel 38 WHDO. Well we bought a digital antenna to pick up the over the air channels & it gets alot of them, however 38 isnt one of them :( :wall: so we will be taking it back

Needless to say I wrote Brighthouse cable & requested Universal Sports:fragile:

I've been lobbying Brighthouse in Central Florida for years, about adding Univeral Sports.
    No luck yet.

Terry! Last year when I saw him at SA in Portland I clammed up and didn't ask for a pic. I'm going to try to be braver this year. :D

    Thanks RD.

I wonder if the extra hour will means we get to see part of the pair and icedance competitions (at least the winners programs). Or possibly this means just more of the singles events (SP's).

    eta:
I just noticed that only Skate America gets 3 hrs while the remainder of the GP events is the usual two hours.

Do we mean there showing it for 3 rather then 2hrs. this year? If there also adding an extra hr. It just goes to show that your TV. Stations are indeed capable of showing ALL of their Sports...and not editing so much and doing a half A. Job.
