It's tomorrow and no thread? Sigh. Miss Maryland, Miss South Dakota, and Miss California are my faves. Miss Texas is expected to win :blah:.

Miss Florida is very impressive - a unique beauty.
She is a G.G. - graduate gemologist - not easy to accomplish.

It will be interesting to see how the judges respond to her.

I like Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada and Ohio.

New Jersey and Oklahoma look like they are about to clobber you with the prop. :scream:

I think the Cleopatra thing is cool.

What's the big deal about Texas? Why is she expected to win?

I suppose they decided to do a themed photoshoot.
It doesn't do some of them any favors.

I agree, skatesindreams. Some of them look sweet and nice in this fierce outfit--doesn't really work. Some look downright mean. But it worked for many of them IMO.

They should do an individualized session, whatever fits every girl. But I guess they have to compare them.

It's too bad some look like they don't practice with the photography shots enough. For example Rhode Island - gorgeous - but she has a couple very blank looking photos up.

Is the competition Sat. evening or Sun. evening?

It's so funny to see what others like. I showed some of whom I consider to be the prettiest to my photographer husband, and his question was, "What's wrong with their lips?" Looks like a lot of trout pouts-some are very awkward.

But anyway, I'm going to be loyal to my home state and say I think Georgia is a real winner. Of course, having Dominique Wilkens as a Dad can't hurt. I just really like her.

I also think Kansas and Kentucky are gorgeous. Montana and Michigan are pretty. I think California is drop dead gorgeous, and Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, SC, Tennessee and Virginia appealed to me the most. I thought some of the head shots were unfortunate-these girls are all beautiful, but some of those head shots did not work well for me.

Kentucky's hair drives me insane! It's so beautiful!

    Texas???? BARBIE!!!! YUK!

Miss Kansas is quite the Barbie herself and a drug rep to boot. She works for Allergan and it says that she pushes a glaucoma med but methinks it's Latisse. ;)

She did answer her questions well in the video.

I don't like Arizona anymore after having watched her video.

I don't get it. Only thing I can think of is that Miss Universe is African, which means probable blonde Miss Universe this year.

I had no idea that's how it worked. I looked up last year's Miss Universe--she is beautiful.

I know what you mean. She wishes she could spend more time in front of a mirror doing her hair and makeup??? That's the one thing she would want to be great at? :scream:

Maine OTOH would be a figure skater! :respec:

Miss Kansas received a nice write-up in the Sunday paper. That is unusual for pageant contestants here; usually you see a blurb of who won the state pageant and that is it. I think that she was both a high school and university valedictorian and put herself through school on scholarships might have been a factor. I think that they pushed the "more than just a pretty face" angle. I suspect (hope) that is true of many contestants these days.

LOL at the number of contestants with obvious implants and dyed hair telling us that true beauty comes from inside you....

I was in Las Vegas for work this week and saw a number of the contestants walking around with their sashes. I actually thought they were posers -- college girls on a post-semester trip or something. Overtanned, overbleached, over-implanted..... Didn't realize Miss USA was going on this week, and didn't think these girls were the "real thing.".

Georgia, Rhode Island, and Virginia are my favorites.

Texas will likely be in the top 5, but I don't think she's going to win.
