They better not pick Ms. Venuzuela b/c if she's "like a box of chocolates," they'll never know what they'll get.

    Love China.

I guess some of the contestants figured that since they are in Las Vegas anyhow, they may as well have costumes they can use to audition as show girls.

China was pretty. I think my favorite was Russia. Also liked Philippines, India and Vietnam.

So weird to have this in the Christmas season. Wish they'd waited a week so I could watch with my parents!

I like Viet Nam's entire costume and South Africa's headress.

I like Mexico, Honduras, and Peru the best! Crazy!

Great Britain is the worst, by a lot.

Watched about half a minute of the national costumes video. Who is the male host???? Who let him on the stage?

This year's event had trouble securing a host city (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic cancelled in September) , which is why the event got pushed back to December (Las Vegas also hosted in August 2010).

Apparently, only a researcher with the pageant organizers, and not an actual broadcaster. The female co-host for the national costume show was 1995 Miss USA Shanna Moakler.

I was supposed to go to Miss Universe tomorrow night, bought the ticket but I had to resign my job a couple weeks ago so I can't go now :( Unfortunate but that's okay, and as for the worst national costume, Great Britain's isn't bad. Canada's is by FAR the worst of all of them. I was disgusted.

I'm cheering for New Zealand and Great Britain to make it :) I think Puerto Rico and South Africa are the favorites to win.

Sweden is competing this year, but she's generally not expected to make it.

I guess since Trump likes long hair on his women...that's why there aren't any women except 2 with short hair.

Who was the woman who sprained her ankle?

Hungary, Philippines and USA are my top 3. As long as USA doesn't talk much. Russia and Venezuela are the rest of my top 5.

Venezuela had a bondage Christmas dress on.

USA gets extra points for side boobage. Looks like Mexico shopped in Russia's dress store.

Brazil my favorite so far in the dresses.

Well, I picked 3/5. I still think Hungary was prettier than Australia.

I loved Venezuela until she opened her mouth. Should have gone with her natural language. :shuffle:

What the heck is USA wearing? I think my grandmom had that as a bathrobe!

Miss Philippines slayed in Q&A. Props to Australia as well. Consistency should make both of them top 3. But I can never predict the winner accurately.

Agreed peibeck! Philippines and Australia have been the most consistent, but I feel bad that the translator butchered Miss Brazil's Q&A. Venezuela tried, but was just too awkward :( I was rooting big time for Olivia Culpo to win USA, so I was really excited to see her compete as Miss Universe. Her dress was a huge letdown, as was her Q&A. She didn't give a bad answer, but I don't think she did enough to make up for the stumble she had earlier in the night. To be honest, I'm a little surprised she made it to the top 5 with a stumble.

I hope her dress looks better live, that material looks rather cheap on TV. Gads, I sound like Nina Garcia. :yikes:

I just caught a bit of this and was utterly surprised at Timomatic. I hd no idea he had had made it so big. He was a contestant on SYTYCD Australia season 2. He's probably the most successful contestant ever and I'm so out of it I had no clue.

Miss USA's dress would have kept her out of my top 5, the stumble would just have cemented it. :slinkaway

I love Olivia Culpo, but between the dress, the stumble, and the just okay answer, she shouldn't have taken the title. Philippines really should have won, IMO.

I do love her face and the updo was very elegant. But it's like the evening gown competition counted for nothing. Eh.

I'm extremely shocked! Olivia was my pick to win Miss USA but based on the competition tonight, I was sure Philippines had the crown.

Olivia is beautiful though and it's obvious that the judging panel tonight went for beauty, how else can you explain Venezuela making top 3 after that answer?!
