Not sad at all!
Oh her dress is beautiful and fits her like a glove. Congratulations to the Kween and I'm also thrilled to see Dick there and looking so happy. I wish he was still commentating, but I guess I can't have everything.
Thanks for that link -- great picture -- Michelle looks so happy!
I haven't read that article, so thanks!
Reminds me of my over-enthusiastic shopaholic aunt!
It's a mixture of feelings because from following skating for years, perhaps for many of us it seems like Dick, Michelle, Dorothy, Peggy, et al, are members of our own family. Michelle's wedding marks a passage for all of us. And it's wonderful to see Dick B who is figure skating personified, happily enjoying this festive and heartwarming occasion for the Kween. Skating memories and personal memories are combined in my heart today. I don't know why I love Michelle so much ... I just do. She inspires love.
Thanks for the updated article link! Another great view of Michelle and Clay leaving the church. Too bad the writer keeps getting the name of the street that the church is on wrong... It's Benevolent, not Benefit. But surely both Michelle and Clay (as well as their friends, family and all those they touch and inspire) will benevolently benefit from their happy union. And the reception is at The Hope Club. The symbolism and synchronicity never ends.
Michelle looks gorgeous, not that I'd expect her to look anything but...
Both she & Clay look great. I'm so happy for both of them.
Aw, they're doing the sword thing! I love the sword thing!! (Yeah, I know there's a name for it, I just can't think of what it is. )
Apparently it's called A Saber Arch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saber_Arch
Article with cute ceremony details:
Aww, she looks so happy. And that dress is gorgeous, too.
They grow up so fast
Michelle looks very pretty. I like the dress too.
I want to know which skaters are on the guest list !
Thank you. As an Army brat, I totally should have known that.
That story is adorable.
Thanks! Such a lovely new informal photo with the short People article filled with wonderful nuggets. 'Love at first sight' and a blessed union ...
More skating guests are mentioned in the updated People article.
Damn. Now, I'll have to buy a copy of People magazine. I never buy People magazine.
Thanks for the article.
Phil Hersh's tweets:
Michelle Kwan had a tear on her cheek as she came down the aisle before ceremony
When they reached the altar, the pastor said, "Michelle, you look amazing. Clay, you look okay
Michelle and Clay got a head start on "you may kiss the bride.". They misinterpreted a cue and did it first time before the ring ceremony
Later, pastor Kurt Vickman said, "you may kiss the bride a second time.". So he did
^^ So it looks like the People article got it wrong when it said that Peter O was there (as Phil tweeted that Peter O is in Omaha preparing his skaters for Nationals) ... but his wife Karen and flower-girl daughters of course were at the ceremony.
I'm shedding more than a single tear.
My heart and memories are full of sighs and tears (happy tears).

She got married this weekend? Did I miss some news or did this totally slip thru the FSU spy screen! And the dude I know at work who knows Clay Pell was on vacation this week. He claimed he was going to San Fran. He gots some 'splainin to do when he's back next week if he was there.
That dress is gorgeous. I want to see lots more pics though, especially the whole wedding party.
The caption is perfect.
Congrats to Michelle and Clay! They look so happy and her dress is gorgeous!
This (the first pic released) could be captioned: Big sis Karen (Matron of Honor) accompanies Michelle from Hope to Bliss!
Michelle looks EXQUISITE!
Thanks everyone for links! I remember Michelle skating as a little girl and well-it puts a lump in the old throat. The years have flown by!
I see per the People article that Clay is 31 to Michelle's 32.
Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness to Michelle and Clay!
Reportedly additional guests include: Tim Shriver, Obama advisor Melody Barnes, Tom Collins, and former Olympic swimmer, Donna de Varona.
Nice group photo tweeted by Brennan:
Our girl's all grown up!
Christine's caption of the pic with Dick, Clay and Michelle cracked me up. How fitting that Dick should be there along with Dorothy and Brian considering that these people literally witnessed Michelle growing up. I wonder if Peggy was there? Both Dick and Peggy being there would be so right to me since I grew up listening to their wonderful commentary while watching so many of Michelle's performances.
Anyway, congrats to Clay and Michelle! Even after all this while, we still aren't weaned off Michelle - she truly is the greatest female figure skater ever.
^^ If Peggy were there, she most likely would have been in the Olympian group photo.
oooh, politicos & skaters! Talk about my type of gathering.
Love the dress tasteful and beautiful.
OMG!! Right before our eyes, she has blossomed into an exquisite young lady. Clay is a lucky guy, and from what I have heard about him, Michelle made an excellent choice. Congratulations to them both. They look great! Michelle is rocking that gown! (Clay is now 31. Someone asked in an earlier post.)
It's wonderful to see her so happy and embarking on the next stage of her life. She has grown from a cute little girl with loads of skating talent, to an exquisite lady with significant off ice accomplishments and a desire to use her other talents to help people. I love that she used Fields of Gold in the ceremony, although I'd have included East of Eden as well.
If they have even half the happiness that Michelle has given skating fans, they'll have a wonderful life.
