Finally. The original was such a mess, one must admit. But Mr. B. has fixed it up so that "Fields Of Gold" is now listenable.

AOL is streaming Bolton's new album, "Gems - The Duets Collection", listen to Michael duet with Eva here:

Michael Bolton - Gems The Duets Collection

Mikey also covers "Pride (In the Name Of Love)", which U2 could never really get a handle on. Plus he covers "The Prayer" and "Hallelulah", two songs that no one has done a very good job on until this time.

Mark my word, expect to see Mr. Bolton up on stage next February taking home the Grammy for best album of the year for this treasure. :respec:

Brian's going to take exception to the opinions you've voiced here. ;)

And leave it to a skating fan to refer to Eva's version as the "original."

Wow. Just listened to Pride (In the Name of Love). I hope Bono and the Edge show up at next year's Grammys and kick MB's ass for that one.

    :)

You're being too literal. Bolton took Eva's original, removed some of her vocals and added her own. So we're talking about Eva's original recording, as apparently she declined to record a new vocal with Mr. B. for some reason...

You have, umm, interesting taste in music PeterG. I cannot imagine Michael Bolton improving anything, especially Eva Cassidy's sublime version of "Fields of Gold." He sings like he has a very painful hernia.

Yes, and when she returns home afterwards, takes Bolton with him. With so many songs out there to choose from, he really picked a good handful which will only make people hate him more. Not too bright, for sure.

And what was Cassidy's estate thinking to let this happen? Why not let Barry Manilow have a shot at it first?

As I said on Facebook, for doing this to Eva's song, he must be destroyed by a meteor.

And as PL replied, this may be one of the 7 signs of the apocalypse.

Looking at the tracks on this album...it's like the album that was specifically made to torture me, with every song that makes me run screaming from the room. All that's missing is a duet with Michael Buble to make it complete.

B & B do a hidden track on the album, a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Finally a definitive version.

PeterG., I'm very worried about you. These posts show that you are very immature and probably have an unstable home life. I hope you seek the help that you need; obviously it's you that has the trouble waters.

You are worse than Flatt. Who will no doubt skate to a muzaked mash-up version of every song on this CD.

Are you serious? Somehow I just can't picture Pat Boone tackling the Judas Priest or Black Sabbath catalogs.

Civic, Civic, Civic. Have you never learned that on FSU, if ye ask, ye shall receive. Pat Boone improves Judas Priest.

I think I need to add this to my Hell's Playlist. I made one for a friend who decided we should compete to make the worst imaginable playlist and torture each other on a drive from LA to Las Vegas.

There were only two rules: (1) All the songs had to be available on iTunes and (2) No Phil Collins.

    My playlist had:

    John Gora: Karma Chameleon Polka
Gheorge Zamfir: Can't Fight the Moonlight (on pan flute)
    Pat Boone: We are Family
Leonard Nimoy: The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
    Rednex: Cotton Eyed Jo
    William Shatner: Mr. Tambourine Man
Pat Boone: I'm Proud to Be an American
    Tom Jones: Lady Madonna
    Veggie Tales: Proud Mary
Jessica Simpson: These Boots are Made for Walking
Toby Keith: Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue
And some horrid techno version of Against All Odds (we decided that it skirted the rules, but was okay)

Needless to say, I won in a landslide.

I wanted to add Phyllis Diller's cover of Satisfaction, but it wasn't on iTunes.

Why yes, manhn. This hidden track is so hidden that it's invisible! :D Get the swangin' swingers remix if you can find it.

I couldn't disagree more - my cat could improve upon that dreck of a song.

While I'm absolutely *no* fan of Michael Bolton's, Pride is pretty much the worst track on The Unforgettable Fire. I was an avid fan of U2 in their early days of Boy, War, and Under A Blood Red Sky, but that album was the end of my fandom of the band and their music.

Beginning with The Unforgettable Fire (save for the title track), every release of theirs since is utter shite - U2 has without a doubt one of the absolute worst rhythm sections in rock music, and Bono's obnoxious, greasy, pompous, self-important attitude is a total turn-off.

Funny, it looks like it's no longer there. It was, because I still have the download. It's from "Rockin' Tom Jones." I wonder if they removed it when iTunes got the rights to sell the Beatles' music.

I'm simply saying that just about anything done to Pride would likely be an improvement over the original, of which U2's is a POS.

Actually, if this finally kills "Hallelujah" and no one ever sings it again, I'll be a happy, happy person. It's already schlock.

Maybe he'll cover "Unforgetable" and edit out Nat King Cole, so he can duet with Natalie?
