I always love the spring collections. I'm really curious to see what Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, and Proenza Schouler do this season.

Richard Chai just started on the live stream.

The womenswear looks are pretty disastrous to me. The color story is very disjointed, though many of the fabrics could make nice cushions or curtains. I'm particularly appalled by what I'm going to call "skrants," which is a skirt attached to the front only of a pair of paints. The proportions throughout were just wrong. A lot of pants hit at odd lengths and then there were mini skirts over long pants. A lot of the styling was off for me. Aline Weber, who is a terrific model, look ghastly with neon blue lipstick.

The menswear was a mixed bag, but I did see several individual pieces that I liked. There was a really slouchy black look with a half trench in the beginning that I loved. There is also a neon coral jacket that I adored and a pair of blue pants with a maroon stripe down the side that I really liked.

This was a strong group of models, but most of them looked like they were thinking "what the f*ck am I wearing?"

This thread will definitely contain rampant Project Runway :COP: conjecture, speculation, and :drama: as photos and attendee reports leak out.

Which makes me chuckle ... the order of presentation and perceived quality of collections always fools everyone over at least one designer's fate. E.g. Amy from a couple of seasons back (for the former) and Anthony from the same season (for the latter).

Todashi Shoji is getting ready to start. Carrie Preston from True Blood is in the audience.

I hope Anthony Ryan is on the runway. They may have decoys but if he is there then he could still be in it!

Everyone who is in the show after tonight will probably be on the runway tomorrow. That's how they did it last season when 10 designers showed at Fashion Week. I bet Anya had the 13 year old that work for her sew a hell of a collection

 I bet you are right. I wonder if they gave her a stiff talking to about having to sew her own things and not letting someone else do it. This wont matter if she isn't final 3.

We need to go work as dressers for the mens collections during fashion week :grope:

Ooh, good idea. :grope: Even better if those two boys need helping dressing for those outfits, as they'd be exactly as dumb as I like my boy toys.

Those studious glasses on the one almost fooled me. Almost.

Interesting that L'Wren Scott is the guest judge and not an actress or singer. Joshua M's collection was much more subdued than what he's shown on the show so far. I loved the kaftan Anya was wearing.

Thomas Jane in the audience :grope:

Based on the designs I saw, I favored Viktor and Anthony Ryan, but I also liked the one dress they showed of Bert's. I didn't see anything of Anya's, so I'm curious to see what she did.

All black from Josh? I wonder if he is a decoy, seems you would be throwing away the competition with that choice.

Here's an image that shows some of Anya's designs. It looks like a lot of long, flowing dresses -- beautiful, but not far from her comfort zone.

Getty images has a gallery for the runway, but mostly the pics are of the designers so far. (And as soon as I posted, they began adding more photos of the models walking.)

Especially since this is the spring collections. The trends, which many of them seemed to miss, seem to be going toward more color.

Getty takes a while, especially to tag and organize them. Blogging Project Runway will assemble all the Getty photos in order of presentation and link them on their home page. Last year, it took until well into the evening to get everything.

This and this are supposed to be Josh designs according to the caption. I think I'd prefer the black. WTF is with the fit on the second one? :scream:

Yeah, after looking at the Getty Images, it appears that Josh M had color...but not good color. The silhouettes in his collection are also not very cohesive. I hope he wasn't one of the finalists.

I like what I could see of Anya's, but it was a collection of flowy dresses and I'm sure that Michael Kors will say that the color story is disjointed.

Josh's has a lot of color. In fact, some of his pieces look inspired by his shirt last night. Hmmm.

I am loving Anya's. Flowy resort prints. But Nina didn't like Ulli did she?

Looks like they must have had to do a bathing suit.

Looking further, I am wondering if the color outfits really are Josh's. There are at least 5 outfits with bright pattern, green or purple, but none of them are visible in the picture of Josh on the runway, though 5 completely different designs are visible. The only reason I might think otherwise is if this is a "bridge" design between the bright colored crap and the darker, more sculptural designs like this and this.

And I now back off those doubts. It looks like it is all one collection.

Victor seems to have gone very heavy into mesh an a pseudo-bondage look.

Nina and Michael gave Ulli a really hard time over repeating the same type of dress. I think Anya has shown more range than Ulli through the season. Bust as far as a Spring collection, Anya's looks closer than many of the others.

I wonder if they got down to final 4 and made two of them design a bathing suit as the decider on who would go to the final like they did with the wedding dresses in Leann's season.

Bitch isn't a finalist, obviously, if everything in his collection is the same as what we see there ... i.e. all black but for leather trimming. No way would he go forth with the monotony (thereby ignoring all warnings from Tim et al) if he were in the running for the $ and title.

Fashion suicide? Eyebrows would "not STAND for it!"

I am liking Viktor's too. Kimberly, maybe not so much. Olivier - very interested, but again, the bland color palette.

Lots of black overall for spring.

    I love Viktor's collection.
Bert's collection seems very classic and I like it.
    Kimberly's stuff is pretty cool.
    Laura's is surprisingly good.
Anya's is nice, but a little too samey.
What is with Olivier's aversion to color?
    Josh's stuff is ugly.

I need to see more of Anthony Ryan's and Bryce's stuff, but what I've seen I don't like.

Top 3 for me though is Viktor, Laura, and Bert.

After seeing Josh's and Anya's, I assumed that a bathing suit was probably a final challenge. But I don't see anything that really screams bathing suit from anyone else.

I'm curious, but does anyone else think Victor went a little too far back to the the ink-blot/kaleidoscope team challenge?

It looks like Getty has attributed some of Bryce's outfits to Bert. I like Bert's gowns, and would not be surprised if he winds up doing some red carpet looks, but, if he were a finalist, he would be dinged for not being innovative enough. They are a bit too classic. And the lack of color doesn't help.

T&L will sort out the photos, including what most think is some misallocation of some of Bryce's into Josh's and/or Bert's collections (the stuff with the ugly green and awful patterns!).

Interesting that of attendees polled on "blogging Project Runway", Laura's gets the most "favorites" mentions (maybe a dozen), followed by about the same support (about six each) for Viktor, Anthony Ryan, and Oliver. Josh, Anya, Kimberly, and Bert get one or two each. Bryce, none.

Bert's is very lovely/very classy, but it's also very ready-to-wear and probably fashion-backward, so it's easy to see why he doesn't get "favorite" mention in a design finale. Kimberly's looks like little like a collection, seems to be random things she took from her closet and tailored for pencil thin models. Olivier's looks as blah and forgettable as the stuff he's done on PR. And Bryce's is obviously a cheaply done decoy.

Anya's, yeh, Uli redeaux ... but beautiful without a doubt. Still, she and the remaining four - AR, Josh, Viktor and wowsers Laura - each have some very strong arguments for 1) being actual finalists; and 2) having merit to be judged the winner.

All of this in my undeniably fashion expert opinion.

T&L seem to have sorted out the photos. They now have Anthony Ryan's full set of looks. I actually think this is one of the strongest sets of Fashion Week collections we've ever seen on Project Runway.

Seeing the disjointed pictures yesterday definitely had me thinking in a totally different direction than I am now.

I find the division on Tom and Lorenzo's website interesting. They have Laura, Olivier, and Viktor together. AR, Anya, and Bert together, and then Kimberly, Josh, and Bryce together. This could just be the order they showed, but it made me wonder if one from each group was in the final or if one whole group was a set of finalists.

Laura - I think this is a fabulous collection. If she is in the final three, I bet she takes the title. From a standpoint of Spring collection, it has some really strong elements, but the color story says fall to me. That, however, just takes away from my personal enjoyment of the collection, not what I think of it from an objective standpoint based solely on the work. I'm not a fan of her personality, but she really put out a great collection. Her set of models wasn't as strong, so it made me wonder if she wasn't in the finals. We might have a Kara Janx situation here of someone showing at Fashion Week that isn't in the finals that has the strongest collection.

Josh - I think he has some high highs and some very low lows. I think the opening look is a huge mistake because is completely disjointed from the rest of the collection save the bright color. The weird, laced up shorts are a disaster, but I like the top he paired with those shorts. The basic black cocktail dress is really strong. It's not groundbreaking, but it's a great dress that a lot of women could wear. In almost every look that is separates, he has something great and something horrible. I really like the collage top, but the green skirt accompanying it is hideous. I think the judges would also have to call him out for borrowing very heavily on a couple of looks from the most recent Prada show. The stained glass looking top with the grey and black pencil skirt is very derivative of at least 3 different Balenciaga shows. For me, this collection was like someone taking Heatherette, Balenciaga, Prada, and Betsey Johnson and throwing them into a blender.

I agree that Bryce's is a decoy collection. There are a couple of decent separates, but it's kind of sad overall.

Kimberly's collection is just not strong. I don't find it cohesive in the silhouettes and nothing is anything you couldn't get at a moderately priced department store.

I adore Anya. I think her collection is really beautiful and would look great on a variety of women. I think it's a fabulous resort collection and I think she's got pieces that would fly off shelves. However, I don't think it's the winning collection by any means. She has a strong set of models, so it did make me wonder if she was in the finals.

Olivier has some fabulous concepts. I actually don't mind the color palette as much here. However, many of these looks are almost comically ill fitting. If he's in the final, I could see him losing on fit alone. That said, I think if he'd fit the clothing better, this would be the best collection. The pieces that fit are stunning.

Viktor is very hit or miss for me. I think there are some strong looks, but I feel that many of his fabrications are not as rich looking as they could be. I don't like the necklines on the dresses and some of the color choices are downright cheap looking.

Anthony Ryan has taken a while to process for me. I think the collection looks like the teenage daughter of Gretchen and Mondo's collections. I think it could go a million different ways. I think it's disjointed in some ways. There's a weird western vibe in a few of the looks that doesn't gel with the modernity of some of the other looks. The styling is incredibly edgy and I'm curious to see how the judges respond if he is in the finals. I HATE that blue paint on the model's right wrist area. Some of the wigs look okay and others just look horrible.
