Interesting, despite the awkward translation. Thank you, Sylvia.

Seems to me that Marina is politicking to keep her two competing couples thing going...

Yeah I think she wants both to push each other. The Shibs have been kind of stagnant awhile now and need a push like that.

I really hope Marina gives the Shibutanis a Les Miserables free dance. It would be so interesting to see ice dancers, or really any figure skaters, portray the characters from that incandescent musical.

By the way Marina, a man can mature and still be a complete idiot. :2faced:

I highly doubt she would have them skate to Les Miserables this season. Chock and Bates just skated to that last season.

    Near Victoria, Doctor. Near Victoria.

Whether this means Victoria Station, Victoria, B.C., the Australian state of Victoria, or some other Victoria remains to be seen.

According to Zoueva, Sinitsina/Katsalapov will be new image of Russia and russian soul. Hmmm. Good example of russian image (!?)

Another Zoueva interview about beauty, soul, harmony, relationships...:) Thanks. :)

The interview is by Olga Ermolina, who was also on the byline of the recent interview with Nina Mozer. Three important take-aways from the Google translation: Katsalapov has invested his Olympic earnings into training with Zoueva, and in June S/K will move to train in Canton to train with Zoueva for the season, and she's declared the era of V/M and D/W as they currently are is over. (If they want to return, they'll have to morph into something else.)

There is also an interview with Sinitsina/Katsalapov.
Lots of comlpiments to Zueva and Sinitsina -according to Katsalapov she was put in a difficult position where she had to learn a lot in a very short time. Katsalapov compares slightly the system in Russia and NA saying the NA employs lots of specialists at once and each is responsible for their own part. Also nothing escapes the specialists - according to Katsalapov when the same coach works with a team they stop seeing certain things. They choreographed an exhibition programme and have thoughts for their SD. Katsalapov is not sorry about anything, it was a decision he put lots of thoughts into.

Press attache of the russian figure skating federation. Assume she, of all people, knows exactly WHY and doesn't see a reason to publish

I suppose that makes sense. Chock and Bates' program had such a cohesive and appealing blend of music and choreography. Top teams might not want to risk looking worse by comparison.

After reading the interview, I am at least as sure as I was before I read it that Zueva will do her best to give both/all her teams strategic programs next season.

I may be biased, but I have a really hard time liking Marina. May be she is just doing what a coach is supposed to do- tell the world how wonderful her skaters are. I don't see her doing that for the Shibs though, and it bothers me that after V&M and D&W's success she is not exactly promoting her #3 ice dance team of the last quad.

I am interested to see what Marina means by a post D/W and V/M era - I am guessing she means less speed, intricacy, and accuracy and more artistee stuff.

Now that S/K is her number 1 Team, I guess she's intimating that the new standard "might" just look like them ;) Politicking.

I'm sure the work D/W did on DWTS would help them with that.

When the musical was newer, that music was used a bit by skaters. Todd Eldrege's 91 free skate was Les Mis and I believe he used some of the music again years later in a SP. Several ladies have done exhibitions using On My Own.

I figure the #1 team is the one that places higher internationally.
