Well, Mariah has unveiled her name for her new twins:

    - Monroe for the girl, inspired by Marilyn Monroe

and (drumroll) for the boy: Moroccan Scott!

Can you just hear it, Moroccan Cannon! Why did she do that to her son?

Morocco would have been better than Morrocan.

And Monroe isn't bad for a boy, but for a girl?

    Well, they are her kids.

I'm sure by 1st grade,Morrocan will be M. Scott Cannon and live a happy life! And for some reason, Monroe doesn't bother me. I also like Harper as a girl's name.

I think I am weirded out by Monroe since it is for Marilyn Monroe. I can't imagine naming my kid after her. But I suppose it is better than a geographic adjective. I wonder if Minnesotan was ever in the mix.

I think Monroe would be much better for a boy, but it's fine as a name. Although- since I don't really associate Marilyn with her last name, so much as with the double name, when I heard Monroe my first thought was the former president...

    Moroccan? So not a name.

I'm with you, they could have been much worse.

I just had two friends who both named their babies Emma...

It's nice to hear something different for a change.

Moroccan is an adjective, not a noun. Names should be nouns. JMHO.

I'm sure there are a lot of beautiful Moroccan boy names out there instead of just calling the kid "Moroccan"

The kid's nickname will be something like Moroc, Roco, etc.

ETA: I'm sure Nick proposed in Morocco and not Moroccan ;)

I was afraid to open the thread.

Not quite as bad as I thought. Well, maybe Moroccan.

Imagine having to spend your life introducing yourself as Moroccan...

Hi, I'm Moroccan, no, never been there, my mother just likes Moroccan decor.

You should always name your child after the decor of the place you got engaged. Who among us has not done that or planned on it? ;)

Lots of French names are adjectives: Aimee, Renee, Desiree, etc. I think that's true of Romance languages in general.

A friend of mine would have had to name her new daughter Smithsonian.
