That is one very talented dude! Not only can he skate, he can speak Japanese.
He is a very personable young man and seems very level headed. His demeanor, poise, conduct during interviews is impressive.
Team Canada's group photo:
Kevin is dead center. I love his jeans and shoes!
Look at young Reynolds. Incredibly cute.
Aww! Adorable! Thanks for posting!
Funny how it says he planned to compete until the 2010 Olympics. I guess after the disappointment of not making the team then, he decided to keep going. And he's still young so it makes sense.
"Diminutive" hehe. He's not so diminutive now!
After years of not quite doing it at competitions, so impressive to see the confidence come through in the wake of his major Championships break throughs. A great thing for Canadian men's skating since I wonder how much longer Chan will continue competing.
Ooh, I almost missed this. He had that charming 60s freshness look, didn't he?
I sent a message to Kevin on facebook asking him about his new programs and this is what he replied:
Hi Abbey, You can view the music selection on the Skate Canada website under my profile
The cheeky guy!! First time he's ever responded to me!!! OMG!
Anyways, here is the link to his Skate Canada profile:
Part 1: Back In Black, Thunderstruck (AC/DC)
Part 1: Excerpts from "Excelsius" (Larry Groupé)
So his short program IS going to be the AC/DC one!
Thanks aemerald for finding out.
Kevin is supposed to compete at AutumnSkate in Ottawa next weekend. I will try and post some photos from his programs.
Mmmmmmm AC/DC and using one of my fav "sporting pieces of Thunderstruck". Think that could be an enjoyable short -- at least to hearing the music it will be for me at least. Wishing Kevin nothing but the best this upcoming season.
You can see it here, professordeb:
Here are a few photos from his short at AutumnSkate. He didn't compete the free. He scored 87ish for his short. Two quads (4Sal + 3T & 4T, I believe) and a 3A. He may have gotten a bit of a deduction on the 4sal... it looked under rotated in the photos and the axel looked a teeny bit two footed, but what a great program to see live. his expression has come a long way even from what it was in the video posted above. I think this will be a great vehicle for him. Very cool and high energy! The crowed loved it.
I like Kevin's AC/DC SP. It's energizing and it suits him.
And thank you too!
I read that Kevin has a knee problem and was hoping that has been resolved or healed up...any news on that? Fingers x'd for him that he can be and remain healthy for this season.
I am sure Kevin is resting well. So far no 'bad news' so it means good news!
Disappointing news that Kevin has withdrawn from Cup of China.
Re-posting from the Grand Prix Assignments thread in GSD:
"The two-time Canadian silver medalist has been struggling with issues with his skates since the start of this season. Without being able to resolve the problems and get the skating boots to fit properly, he has missed training time, and is unable to compete for Canada in men’s at this event."
sad news....I was waiting for him...
So sad for him. I think everyone who is a fan had high hopes for him this season. Good luck, Kevin, hope everything gets straightened out for you.
And another one "bites the dust". Sad news indeed.
Our Olympic team medal is starting to look less and less likely.
Canadian Press article (Oct. 31): Clock ticking for figure skater Kevin Reynolds as he deals with equipment issues
Re-posting from the Rostelecom Cup forum in Kiss and Cry - I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Reynolds' name is no longer listed as of Nov. 5, which likely means he has not solved his boot issues in time:
How will this impact his eligibility for Olys, providing his problems are solved by then?
Oh, nooooo! This is a very bad news!!!Poor Kevin!
I hope Kevin can still skate well at Nationals. Go Kevin go. You can do it.
