^^ Well, that doesn't sound good. I guess he should have stipulated beforehand that he didn't need any technique rehab. Why try to fix something that doesn't require fixing? For all his rebelliousness, Johnny seems sometimes too easily swayed when it isn't to his benefit. Maybe he put himself in Galina's hands completely because he admired Oksana Baiul so much. While Oksana was an exquisite skater, she always seemed to have technique problems on her jumps, and she never really managed to consistently perform combination jumps. In any case, if he was going to allow Galina to rework his technique, why didn't he listen to TAT about Liebestraum, or to Priscilla about the need to train hard and focus more?
BTW, someone in another thread said that Johnny has "burnt all his bridges," an analogy that makes me . IMO, any so-called “bridges” were long ago blown-up by USFS view of and stance toward Johnny, and his resulting refusal/ inability to fully conform to expectations or to change his personality.** Well before his book was published, Johnny IMHO had no “bridges” available to be burned.
Or, we could all be wrong in varying degrees, as a lot goes on behind the scenes that never comes to light, not even in a book.
**At least Johnny can always say, "I did it 'My Way!'" It does take some courage (others might say foolishness) to face the world as oneself, no faking it. Most people, let alone skaters, are afraid to really be themselves, as our culture generally indoctrinates us to conform.
This summarizes how I feel, also.

There are also some great photos from Ice Dreams (particularly Johnny with kids) here:

Johnny Weir Named L.A. Gay Pride Grand Marshal (Exclusive)
The reality star will oversee the annual parade set for June 12 in West Hollywood.
Pop Star on Ice and Skating With the Stars judge Johnny Weir has been named grand marshal of the 2011 L.A. Gay Pride Parade.
The openly gay three-time U.S. figure skating champion and star of Be Good Johnny Weir has been an advocate for gay rights and will oversee the June 12 parade as it travels along Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, Calif.
"Johnny lives a life with a defined purpose, is dedicated to helping young people and is not afraid to be himself, sometimes not always an easy thing for a world-class athlete, said Christopher Street West board president Rodney Scott.
Said Weir: Im not ashamed to be me. More than anyone else I know, I love my life and accept myself. Whats wrong with being unique? I am proud of everything that I am and will become, the two-time Olympian said.
The 41st annual Los Angeles Pride Parade draws more than 400,000 people to West Hollywood for a weekend of events celebrating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender visibility. It is organized by Christopher Street West, the group that produced the first LGBT Pride Parade.
Previous grand marshals have included Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Chelsea Handler, Cyndi Lauper and Kathy Griffin.
Excerpt from page 2 of the article:
SB: Will you go back to skating professionally? Do you still skate now? If so, where?
JW: I train still as often as possible at Ice House in Hackensack. I am currently unsure of my competitive future and if I want to dedicate three more years to an already very long and successful career. I do miss skating competitively, and if I decide to return for the next winter Olympics in 2014 in Sochi, Russia, I will vanish from the pop culture world. To be an Olympic athlete, you need to live like a monk and I don't do anything half-way.
Congratulations to Johnny, that sounds like a big honor!
Er, what does a grant marshal do? March at the beginning of the parade? Make a speech?
Look pretty while riding on a float?
I think that's it. And the float would be at the beginning of the parade. And the grand marshall waves and blows kisses a lot.

Weir, skater ``first and foremost,'' still unsure about comeback

Oh dear, I don't think Johnny is cut out for that job
Congrats to Johnny! He is, um, actually the first gay grand marshal? I noticed all of the others were just straight women who love/are loved by gay men.
Speaking of Johnny Weir, I saw him on tv in a dress this evening, but I missed the explanation as to why he actually had a dress on. If anyone can enlighten me, thanks. lol.
it bought out the colour in his eyes?
On TMZ? He felt like it. I loved how he said he watched their show and saw his pic on someone's cubicle. It's been up there forever. Somebody is a fan.
Because he's a sweet transvestite from Lan-cast-er, Penn-syl-va-ni-a, ah hahhh!
Seconded that he wore a dress because he felt like it. This must have been what it was like when women started wearing bloomers and then slacks. Oh, the horror! What does it matter, really?
I watched that yesterday!
You mean, when hundreds and thousands of women started wearing them? I think there's a flaw in the comparison.
Because dresses are fun and comfortable and he looks nice in them? That's why I wear dresses. It's not a big deal.
For those wondering why Johnny has been tweeting from Miami this week: Johnny Weir skates into town for MAC show
Geez, I hope he's ready to replace his blades after skating on plastic ice. That stuff is nasty.
No offense, but I certainly hope that he has "backup" blades to use there instead of his normal performance blades.
Who knows - maybe he is ready to buy new blades (or has done so already) and will send whatever pair he uses at this event out in style by performing there.
According to his Twitter, he fell. But it wasn't clear if he fell while skating. He said he fell off the stage and hurt his thumb.
Johnny at Macy's on June 9.
At the begining there was a brief fashion show on men's clothes and Johnny MCed it.
The show was followed by Q&A for him and then book signing.
When asked about which music he would have liked to skate to
(or to that effect), he answered Liebestraum, without hesitation,
and continued as:
I hope he can bring it back to life if he thinks the program would have been so beautiful !
He was very kind and gracious to all the fans that were there,
taking enough time to talk to each one of them at the book signing.
If you did not have his book, they gave you his portrait with Macy's logo.
Some snacks and drinks were served as well (not sure if this is specific to this store) - all free!
