Who will medal in this one?
1. Lipnitskaya 2. Hicks 3. Miyahara
If Hicks can skate better than she did at Brisbane, she might end up 2nd; but Miyahara's total score from her event is 2nd only to Lipnitskaia's total...Hicks' was about 10 points less than Miyahara's. I actually prefer Miyahara's skating over Hicks' so that who I'm cheering for...
I prefer Miyahara over Hicks, she is cute and has lovely qualities that Hicks can only dream about, and really hope to see her in the final. As for Lipnitskaya, she is in the league of her own
But 2 and 3 is a tossup btwn those 2 girls, IMO. Could go either way.
it will be interesting to see who wins.
i am thinking julia first, courtney 2nd- but i can see those two turn. aslo satoko can pull of an upset and win.
1. Julia LIPNITSAKIA RUS
2. Satoko MIYAHARA JPN
3. Courtney HICKS USA
4. Hannah MILLER USA
5. So-Youn PARK KOR
6. Anna SHERSHAK RUS
7. Isadora WILLIAMS BRA
Lipnitskaia, Miyahara, Hicks
Don't think she'll medal, but I hope Anna Shershak can have good skates. She's absolutely lovely and deserving of high PCS.
Hoping Miller has a great debut!!
(I always vote too early and my pics end up injured or change...giving it one more try!! Best to all )
I hope Courtney Hicks.
does anyone know why courtney withdrew
she was injured during the free skate - fell badly on one of the first elements.
Her injury is really bad, she broke her leg on the take off of the jump. Poor girl
Oh no. If that's correct, then that's a season ending injury, right?
That sounds awful.
OMG, how awful if that's true.
It's true FSO poster who was at the rink and saw it wrote that she singled the second jump of her program (probably lutz or flip) and fell on ice. Later it was known that she broke her cannon bone on the take off
What is the cannon bone? All sources I found on a quick search referred to horses. I'm surprised IceNetwork doesn't seem to have reported on it. I wonder how long that will take to heal.
Sorry, I guess I translated it wrong. Thigh-bone or tibia would be correct I think. AFAIK it's a bad injury and I don't think we will see Courtney at Nationals
yup, I was there too. Didn't see the fall actually because I was writing down something, but looked up when I heard the fall and saw she was not getting up again. I was announcing there, so I was sitting next to the judges, and the first judge on my right told that she'd struck the take-off all wonky - evidently the injury happened at that point. At first we thought it was her knee - but later I was next to the US team leader and asked her about that, and she said it indeed was her leg, right below the knee.
Review of the ladies and JGP standings
That really sucks for Courtney. Is that normal? To break a leg doing something as routine as jumping? Was she injured before the LP? That would explain why her jumps were so off in the SP...
