Jerry Bock, who is mostly known as a composer of the musical Fiddler on the Roof, died at age of 81.

If I Were A Rich Man, is a great memory that he left for us.

    RIP!

    :(

I love his work -- not just Fiddler, but also She Loves Me and Fiorello. R.I.P.

    :(

I love Fiddler on the Roof. I wish it was overused instead of Carmen and stupid tangos.

Aw ... that's sad. IMHO, Fiddler is one of the greatest Broadway musicals of all times.

May his memory be for a blessing.

Hopefully Akiko skates well tomorrow in her FS to honor him! :)

I love me some Fiddler on the Roof!

"For Papa, make him a scholar / For Mama make him rich as a king / For me, well, I wouldn't holler if he were as handsome as anything!"

RIP Mr. Bock, and thanks for the memories!

:( Love Mr. Bock's music, 60's big Broadway was just :swoon:

I was also probably the world's skinniest gentile Tevye in high school theatrical history, but what a fantastic show.

RIP Jerry Bock. May your memory be a blessing.
And my two favourite stanzas from “Rich Man”

For the devout Jew, this really would be the “sweetest thing.”
This verse and, actually, the entire song, demonstrates the questioning type of dialogue Jews have have with G-d.
    Great stuff, Jerry.

Aww you lucky duck, I've always wanted to play Tevye as well. My high school was a little too...mmm...intolerant to do 'Fiddler', sadly. Guess I'll have to wait another 25 years to play him, even though I'd never get picked in an adult production since I'm also a skinny gentile

    RIP Jerry, and :kickass: Akiko!
