A huge wish of mine is for Jeremy to skate with freedom and zest in a major international competition like Worlds or Olympics with the same smooth, controlled abandon of emotion that he shows in this performance from the 2013 World Team Trophy Exhibition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ9PWWQot5Y. If he could skate like that in international competition, he would be unstoppable and, of course, JEREMAZING! :swoon::encore:

^^ Yeah, thanks for posting that performance. :swoon:

Jeremy was obviously very relaxed and having a great time performing for the Japanese fans. I hope he can carry that energy, enthusiasm and relaxed but focused approach throughout his final eligible season. No matter what, I look forward to just enjoying watching him skate.

I am bumping up this thread - hope no one minds!

Jeremy's skate in NHK brought a tear to my eye. In many ways, the NHK trophy was like his last chance to prove himself (if he had skated like he did in SC, then I think you could pretty much say that the Sochi dream is gone). But now I think there's JUST a chance - however slight - that the authorities will pay attention again!!! Loved the way he fought through the 2nd triple axel, the lutz sequence and the loop. I thought his PCS were too low though.

Whether Jeremy makes it to Sochi, I'm thankful that he finally delivered a clean-ish performance of this programme which fans from all over the world can watch and watch again :)

I may have missed the news, but did Jeremy change his FS midway this season? I could have sworn that he was skating to different music (which I didn't like) at the earlier event. In any case, it's good to see him back with the Muse program of which the music is so much more moving.

I love Jeremy's skating. He is so artistic, he reminds me somewhat of Toller. Just wish he can become more consistent, because I'd love to see him at Sochi.

So excited for Jeremy this weekend!! :cheer2:

He still has to overcome his bugaboos when it comes to the quad, but overall, he seems to be on the right track as his spins are much improved over last season, and skating is as sublime as ever :swoon:.

I understand his technical marks, given the botched quad in the SP and the couple of hiccups on landings in the FS, but I felt he got screwed on PCS  :blah: -- funny that he skated this exact program with mistakes in the past yet he received much higher PCS then, and for them to be that close to Max Aaron's? I like Max, but those to are in different galaxies when it comes to the second mark.

Also, I don't understand how Jeremy's PCS is comparable (or lower?) than Javier Fernandez ... Javier pretty much had a meltdown (by his standards anyway) and Jeremy delivered arguably his best performance ever of this free programme. One judge gave Jeremy like 6s and 7.0 across the board for PCS ... it's so atrocious!

OUF !
Congrats to Jeremy. Not his best performance ever, but enough to make me really really happy for him !
What a pleasure to watch him.

Thanks for the link to the Exhibition.

I didn't really like his programmes last season, but this vocal version of "Bring Him Home" is beautiful. Jeremy is quite the arteeeeeeste.

I really love the Vocal version of Bring Him Home-it's more majestic. I've read comments about how Jeremy can improve the revised LP....but what does Jeremy need to do with his SP? It hasn't been scoring well.

I personally like his SP v. much. The music is quite "subdued", but Jeremy does such a great job at interpreting it. I like the subtlety ... on the other hand, I don't know what he was doing last season in the short programme (where he was obviously trying to portraying some kind of detective ... not a particularly cool one though I didn't think  )

anyway, his SP deserves more respect from the judges.

To me the SP seems to be only jumps and crossovers- then, halfway through, the choreo starts.

I'm sure it will develop more between now and Nationals. I wish he had another competition before Nationals. It might help the SP.

It makes me wonder what the original SP this year was like (the Let Yourself Go one)

Thanks Sylvia. I love the pix of him at 2007 Four Continents. Gosh, Jeremy and Buttle looked so incredibly young and cute.

No. Of course I’m doing this to win, but I want to know what each time I am done skating I’ve performed the best I possibly could. I’m not trying to be Patrick [Chan]’s best or Javier [Fernandez]’s best, I’m just trying to be Jeremy's best.”
That should be the way, Jeremy. You are unique in your own way. Every skater bring different strengths and skills to the ice. I still believe you can medal if you put everything together at that crucial hour. All the best.

Love the exhibition and the free skate. Don't know why the short isn't scoring that well but it could be his need to concentrate on the quad and 3A at the expense of the choreography.

how wonderful it would be for Abbott to go to Sochi.

while an individual medal would be extremely difficult, a team medal is not beyond the realms of possibility. wouldn't that be a beautiful way to end a long career.

Good luck. Believe in yourself. You are definitely a talent and wouldn't be among the top, if you are not.

Are there any reports on his training? Is he landing a quad consistently? His artistry is always great but the jumps and nerves have been an issue.

Jeremy skated his "Lilies of the Valley" SP in last night's DSC show - fan cam video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHTaoIVGTog

Video captured from the live stream (some glitchy moments): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1tUauLWth0

ETA this eloquent post from the DSC show thread in GSD :):
I will miss Jeremy so much when he retires, regardless of what he achieves or does not achieve.
Glad that he changed "Pina" arrangement, it sounds edgies, looks edgies; movement, music and personality are much more together.
I'll never know how much of it is his instinctive talent and how much conscious choice, but when there is a disconnect between him and music (which is almost never), he feels it and adjusts. Jeremy might not have often delivered at big events, but he never failed in his musicality. I was not sure what exactly is this year's SP, and slight adjustments put it all together. I hope he sticks with this version for the Nationals.

Yo, what's with Jeremy not getting a pre-US Championships teleconference on IceNetwork? Is USFSA throwing shade? :slinkaway (PSA: Aaron, Rippon, Miner and Brown all got one)
