This is my first thread ever so I hope I didn't do anything wrong...
    From the Pflumm/Guarise thread:
Last weekend I also had the time to translate two interviews I made during worlds (they have been published in italian a few weeks ago): one with Stefania Berton and Hondrej Hotarek, the other with Meryl Davis in italian. I'm not sure if I can post it here as it's not about an italian skater, but I recorded it as Meryl was doing an interview in italian for the first time :)

    Links to the interviews:

Here's the direct link to the post in the Pflumm/Guarise (new Italian pair) thread in GSD (I suppose you could post any translations in that thread?): http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3189465&postcount=24

Thanks for starting this Italian skating news thread, pingu! :)

It basically says that on October 1st there will be a figure skating show at the Arena di Verona. Skaters will skate accompained by the orchestra and choir of the Arena, skating to the six operas of the Arena season 2012: Don Giovanni, Aida, Carmen, Romeo e Giulietta, Turandot, Tosca. The patroness of this event will be Carolina Kostner, that will use the money gained with this show for the association "One Heart One World", that helps families with cardiopathic kids.
Stéphane Lambiel will skate in this show too.

I'm going to be there :D

Lambiel often confirms participation very late... sometimes a week before the show

Apparently there is a new italian pair junior age elegible:
    Alessandra CERNUSCHI/Filippo AMBROSINI.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2llUUGg-30&feature=channel_video_title

The quality of the video is not very good, but it seems that they are still far from being a couple. They are 2 good single skater skating together...
    However, they could be promising.
Filippo is 2010 Junior Men National Champion and has various international experiences in this category (3 JGPs, NRW and Mont Blanc Trophy).
Alessandra is a young talented promise in Ladies Single and had very good placements in Novice and in Juniors (8th last year in Nationals).
Here are some recent videos from their singles career.

Hope they will be ready to participate into the JGP!

According to this article, Valentina Marchei will train in Detroit with Dungjen and Sato: "Three-time ladies Italian champion Valentina Marchei will join the group this weekend."

After her injury occurred during Euros, she only did rehabilitation for a while, so I think that now she's back in shape again :)

Valentina Marchei's change was confirmed last week by "gazzetta dello sport"

    http://archiviostorico.gazzetta.it/2011/giugno/23/TUTTENOTIZIE_RISULTATI_ga_10_110623089.shtml

    and by this http://dreamingonice.blogspot.com/2011/06/valentina-marchei-si-trasferisce.html

I think it's a good choice for her, since Morozov team this year has increased with Leonova and Gedevanishvili.
Plus, she said to "Gazzetta" that she needs a coach able to follow her all the time, and that's was certainly difficult with Morozov.

Filippo is not new to pairs. He skated with Flavia Levi at the Nebelhorn novice competition and ISU pairs camp a few years ago. Hopefully that past experience will help this new team.

Thank you :) In the first article it's also written that Pasquale Camerlengo will be her coreographer.

Thanks Sylvia! I'm looking forward to see what her new programs will look like. Although I'm happy for her coaching change, I will miss watching her skate at shows in Italy.
Do you guys think she would be able to go to Verona for the show on October 1st?

I hope Marchei will be in Verona, but I'm not so sure if she had been invited, and if it's too close to her first GP (SA), to do US-Italy-US...finger crossed :)

I don't think Sk AM would be a problem (it's weeks away!)... and Kostner is listed there too, and will be in the show... if Vale is not invited, the problem is not that one, but another :scream:. Anyway, I'm thrilled for her to be finally in the US, and in a very nice environment :D hopefully it will pay off this upcoming season, and I can't wait to see what Pasquale will be doing for her!

Valentina wrote a note for all her fans on facebook (please let me know if I translated something wrong!!):

    Hi everybody,
I started to skate with a post-injury precautions and calm.
I'm ready to start again, in all respects.
Detroit is going to be my new training base until the Sochi Olympics, Jason Dungjen and Yuka Sato will be my new coaches, and Pasquale Camerlengo my new choreographer. I didn't go away from Morozov for technical reasons, but for organizational ones. I need a stable training base and coaches always present. Constant travels were too expensive and tiring, both mentally and physically. I am very happy I've found such an organized and warm team in Detroit, I'm very serene and confident about my choice.
The team Morozov has been my "family" for three years and the precious lessons of Nikolai enriched my technical and artistical background. Skating in America, Lettonia,Russia and Japan has been a wonderful experience. The group multiethnicity, the coexistence of different cultures made me mature in all respects. All of this will always remain in my heart!
A lot of new projects to realize are coming soon.
    Valentina

Berton/Hotarek already have an ice dance look to their skating. They are really special. I hope they have a kick ass season.

    Why Adagio though? :wall:

The accident sounds scary but it's probably very common when learning the triple twist.

I completely agree, I've become a fan since the first time I saw them skate. They're also great people, both down to earth and highly motivated, they always give me the impression of being exhactly aware of what they want and how they can achieve it. IMO if they keep this spirit they can do great things.
I've seen Ondrej giving lessons every Sunday for two years and he's a very patien coach, and super cute with the little kids. :) I remember once he was teaching to a very little kid who was wearing a helmet and falling all the time, and Ondrey was behind him catching him every time he fell. (uhm this last sentence has some mistakes but I can't find them, I hope you guys got the meaning)
