It seems that this is a new initiative of the ISU and it's a really great one too! It follows the same principles as the Pairs and Ice Dance seminars that have been held in Obertsdorf for a while now (young teams and their coaches work with highly experienced skating and off-ice coaches). The first (I assume) such seminar to take place is the ISU Regional North / East European Ice Dance Development Training Seminar to take place in Torun, Poland between 18-25 August and is organised by the Polish Figure Skating Association and MKS Axel Torun (that is the club where Dorota and Mariusz Siudek and Sylwia Nowak coach). Sylwia Nowak (1994 Junior World Champion and top 10 Euros and World competitor) is head Ice Dance coach in the club and is also a member of the ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee. Anastasia Vykhodtseva (who competed for Ukraine with Alexei Shumski and later for Poland with Jan Moscicki) also coaches there. The seminar will be open for couples from beginner up to Novice level (ages 10-15/17) and their coaches and its purpose is to 're-initiate Ice Dance in countries that had couples before, but have no or very little activity now, also the introduction of Ice Dance in new areas where it is not yet traditionally pursued'. More information on the MKS Axel Torun website: http://www.axeltorun.pl/ Anybody knows whether other similar seminars will be taking place elsewhere?
