Interesting to note, the LPGA was five recognized majors starting this year, as the Evian Championship has now upgraded to major status. There is debate as to whether Inbee has to win both the British Women's Open and the Evian Championship to be considered a true "Grand Slam".

I think the retirements of Lorena Ochoa and Annika Sorenstam were somewhat of a blow to the LPGA. Also, Yani Tseng's form has been the same since 2011 and Paula Creamer's career has flatlined somewhat.

Some articles have also said it also has to do with the fact that the Asians typically are very reserved. Their command of English apparently isn't great, which probably makes them dull interview subjects.

However, I'm sure it's helping grow the sport in Asia. I've heard from colleagues and read articles that country club memberships are among the most prized commodities in Asia these days and in Vietnam, a membership in a country club is said to be a better investment than real estate.

Nobody is interested in LPGA anymore. Sorrenstam and Ochoa retiring was a disaester for the LPGA. Wie hasnt become a great golfer. Neither has Creamer. Those are two the LPGA was really banking on being great and neither are. Karrie Webb hasnt been a top player in about a decade and many of the old Hall of Fame greats with personality like Inkster, Davies, Mallon, are falling by the wayside too. Christie Kerr took #1 for awhile which might have interested Americans but she lost it quickly and is barely on the radar anymore. Tseng hasnt mantained being a dominant player, and the whole tour being dominated by Koreans with a variety of hard to remember names is probably not appealing to the American brand either.

Webb and Kerr are still in the mix (in fact, both have won tournaments this year on the LPGA tour), but have been non-factors in the majors. There's also Stacy Lewis and Suzann Pettersen, but again, they too haven't really cashed in on the majors, with only 1 total each. Laura Davies is pretty much exclusive to the European tour these days.

It's come down to a scenario where the European tour is gaining on the North American tour enough that it now co-sanctions two out of the five majors (British and Evian).

The hot Americans right now are Jessica Korda, Lizette Salas and Gerina Piller. Look for a big fight at the Marathon and Women's British to earn the final points needed to make the Solheim Cup team.

Since the last post in this thread:

Inbee Park now has 7 majors (including 2 thus far in 2015) - now tied in all-time list with Karrie Webb and Julie Inkster
Stacy Lewis, Suzann Pettersen and Brittany Lincicome now have 2 majors apiece

Final major for 2015 is Evian Masters in September. Inbee Park is a former champion of Evian Masters, but that win was before the event was recognized as a major.
